Ryde or ride?

Just curious, is the correct spelling ryde or ride?

Lots of threads but there are NO RULES for spelling, waving or all the other side-bars.

People use rYde to pick up on the SpYder Y factor, and I use it sometimes too.

You've chosen a wonderful bike (or is that bYke) so you can choose your own spelling too! :yes:

At least we know the people who use "ryde" are doing so on purpose (and creatively) It's not just more abuse of our language through misspellings, poor grammar, poor sentence structure, improper punctuation, etc. I've been on forums for more than a decade now and have watched the writing get worse each year! I'm sure it has a lot to do with the proliferation of texting and other lazy social media, but, nonetheless, I find it very annoying.

Why I use "Y"

I use it to differenciate between two/four wheels and three. I use ride for the two and four wheelers and ryde for the three wheelers. But thats it. Some change the "i" to "y" for all the words related to the subject. A bit much for me...hyea:

:agree: I think it's a bit creative to see the use of "Ryde" in place of the proper "Ride" when referring to the Spyder on this forum. I know that the word is mispelled intentionally for our purposes. It's much more tolerable than the blatant assaults on the English language that I see on Facebook and on forums such as this one. However, I try to look past the horrible grammar, and focus on the quality and usefulness of their post.:thumbup:

Their emblem and advertising also embraced that.

Most have always used Spyder for spelling. Many of us continue to throw ryde around to substitute for ride.

There have been a few "purists" that have suggested we spell check our posts because that it just wrong. :roflblack: Me, I do what I want.

So go out there and have some great rydes on your Spyder or :ani29: or :spyder2: :yes:

In American, the correct spelling is "ride." But we rYde, instead of ride, SpYders and not spiders!

But our SpYders have 3 tires, and not "tyres." Unless you're in the UK or Australia!
