• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Russell or Corbin Saddle? It's decision time. Owners of either; what say you?

Hi Deb. I might give Russell a call today. I really like the idea of the 'buy back' guarantee. I'm willing to go $600. But, on the other hand, I may wait for this purchase for awhile. Maybe, make a few longer trips with the stock seat, and see how we fare. 'Might even go ahead with the BRP seat cover for $180 in the meantime.
I have seen some of the seat covers, and they look real nice. They do make the Spyder seat a little slipperier, and a little firmer, from what owners have told me, but add no padding. I would certainly try your seat the way it is first, if you are not uncomfortable now. If there is a chance you may buy a seat or convert yours later, I would not buy the seat cover. That $180 should go toward the new seat.

I love my Russell, still haven't taken a real long trip yet due to weather but it is a great seat so far. bjt loves his too and they are each different. Russell makes the seat for you and will adjust it up to 2 times for free and as mentioned, they have a buy back guarantee. We got ours for under $600 each but we got in on their annual group buy which happens in the fall. They have prices on their website and they vary depending on material used and any extras you get. I would check out their site and price one out the way you want it and then remember, this seat is for sitting on for a lot of miles. It is truly an investment. Make sure it is right for you.

:agree:

Love the Russell seat. For me, the stock Corbin seat on daddydarko's Spyder that I sat on pushed me a little too far forward. That was before I learned that Corbin could also custom mold a seat / foam for you. I would still go with a Russell though as mine is excellent. I also would skip the seat cover unless you are going to definitely keep the stock seat. Why waste 1/3 of the cost of a replacement seat on what may be a temporary seat cover.

I have the Corbin saddle with ~450 miles on it, and have always found it to be more comfortable than the factory seat. I'm presuming that the 2,000 mile "break in" will only make it more comfortable.

The smuggler's trunk is not a backrest, but does provide lower back (lumbar) support.

Hey Greg,

This Terry, I have the Corbin seats on my spyder. If you want, you can ride my machine again to get a better idea if you like the Corbin seats.

My wife and I liked the stock saddle. With a sheepskin, it was day after day comfortable, for us. Won a Corbin at Gatilinburg last year. The Corbin is comfortable for us both but it is an aftermarket saddle, not a custom saddle. Russel makes the saddle for you based on you weight, inseam etc. Corbin can be shipped to you. No down time. Russel Day-Long send your saddle in and wait for custom job. Let me know if you decide on the Day Long we can work something out to borrow my stock saddle.
