• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

running rough

Hi everyone!!! I have had my 2008 spyder for 3 weeks now and I am having a blast with it. My only issue is with it running rough at a cruising speed in any gear between 3500-4000. I was told that after the steering recall was done, there were a certain number of units that had this problem and a small part change and computer re-program would fix the issue. So, I took it in and had it updated and everything, only to now have it running worse. Now, it isn't just at cruising speed, but going through the gears. It actually died on me at a light waiting for it to turn green. Then at times after shifting into 2nd, I will twist the throttle and it acts like it is mis-firing. Anyone else having any issues. Oh....runnin all stock btw. Thank you!!!

Well buddy not knowing Miles on :spyder2: and what might or might not have ever done as far as maint. goes, It does sound like a fuel and or ignition problem, Could be as simple as spark plugs might need replacement. If your nor mech. inclined I would definitely get it checked out at your dealer....Freebob...:doorag:

milage

To answer your question, I am sitting at about 6,100 miles with no aftermarket parts. Like I said, already took it to the dealer. They did the computer program update and switched a part and now it runs worse. Now what??? Thanks for your time!!

A good tech should be able to resolve this. Yours did the standard first step. If they had taken it for a test ride, they would have known it didn't help. Possibilities are several, including bad purge valve or purge solenoid, vacuum leak, bad plug wires or coil, plugged injectors or plugged fuel filter, etc. Have them take another look...especially if you have the BEST warranty.

:agree:
Not saying this is your case, but in broad daylight I could see my front plug boot arc. Wish there was a cross reference, $45.04 for 1 wire.:yikes:
I'am not arguing warranty, I may have caused it.

In your situation, I think I would return to dealer & let them know now they didn't get it right.

welcome

Definitely take it back and tell them what it is doing. They obviously did not get it right the first time, and need to correct whatever is going on. Both of our Spyders had the surging issue between 3,000 and 4,000 RPM, and the Engine Performance Update, I think it came out in November of 2009, corrected the issues for us.

Best of luck getting it resolved quickly.

Surging

Well, first of all thanks for all your advice!! I will be calling the dealer as soon as they open today.(sure wish there was more than one here in kc). Have a great day!

Best of luck getting things squared away. Don't be too hard on your dealer. Sometimes the updates don't take. They still should have caught it, but it may not have been their fault that it has the problems. My dealer could not get it to take, and had to reflash the ECM. Anyway, if it is that easy to replicate, they should be able to take a test ride, then work on it until they get it right. Could be something as simple as a vacuum hose having been pulled loose.

spark plug wires

I had both my spark plug wires go bad at 16 thousand miles. Causing it to run rough and die at stop lights. Just a thought.

Not that this observation is going to solve your problem, but for me, when I am in the 3500-4000 rpm range I'm either accelerating or decelerating.
I try to cruise at the 4500-5000 range.

maybe that's why my :spyder: likes to be in the service dept,:yikes:
:roflblack:

That's practically idle for an engine that red lines at 10 grand down shift one and let it purr 5-6 k just under the torque peak it where it likes to cruise
