I would never strap a child to a motorcycle. I've been in a motorcycle accident and you don't want to be on it when it goes down. The Spyder is very different, however, but still.... I'd never take a child much further than a spin around a neighborhood on the Spyder at speeds below 20 and never without a helmet of course. If they can't reach the footpegs, they shouldn't ride.
This is me in Arizona with my friend's son on the back. He was 11 at the time and had lots of riding experience with his father on a two-wheeler. Of course I know I wasn't setting the best example by not wearing a helmet, but in my defense we went 8 blocks away and never left the neighborhood.
