There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. RTL/F3L Heated seats - does the Spyder need to be running for seats to heat?

Hey all with 2020+ RTL heated seats or, maybe, F3L heated seats. Does the byke need to be running or pressure applied to activate the heat elements? I turned on the ignition, flipped the heated seat to high and waited 10 minutes. I sat on it for a few minutes and still no heat. Guessing that even though the switches light up, that the machine has to be running for heat to be activated? Might the little bump in the seat be a pressure switch? Thanks for any input...

There's a note in my Operators Guide on page 33:

NOTE:
The heated seat will shut off when engine
is under 800 RPM and will not resume
automatically.

Same for the heated grips.

You already got your answer to the engine running question. That is indeed a pressure switch to know if the seat is occupied. The heater will not operate if there is no passenger in the seat. Also there is a safety mechanism that will shut the heat off while you are riding if an over temp is detected. I believe you must turn it off and back on to make it operate again.

Based on what has been posted, it appears the engine has to be running for heated items to function.

The good side, I would think that without the engine running, the battery would be drained very quickly.

My 2024 RTL came with the seat heaters hooked up backwards. Took me a bit to realize that when I had the driver's seat on, the passenger seat was heating up instead. It did this with nobody riding back there either. Not sure why they would go to the trouble and expense of adding a pressure switch? But there clearly is not one on mine.

You definitely don't want your heated components operating with the engine not running because it wouldn't start once you got ready to go somewhere. BRP did you a favor there.
