• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT622 Trailer wont open

I have a RT622 trailer, Its acting like its locked. I can turn key from unlock to locked position with ease. I can hear that key is moving something when i turn it.
But front and back trunk handle release acts like its locked. It wasn't locked when it was parked last fall and working good. Any ideas? or how to open trunk to take it apart?
It is being stored in a heated shop so nothing is frozen or rusted from sitting over the winter.

Try & see if can you feel anything by lightly pulling latch while turning key ( preferably the rear door ). Might just get lucky:thumbup:

On the RT 622 trailer, the key is unlocked when the slot is in the vertical position. And I think that you'll agree that if it was unlocked when you last left it, than it will be unlocked when you come back.

So, first thing, if the handles pull out a bit and stop, but you are not feeling the lids unlatch, pull up on the deck lids to see if they are already unlatched and just sitting there in the lowered position. It happens. Otherwise, just pull the handle harder. If that makes you uncomfortable, then have someone hold the tongue of the trailer down while you push down on the rear deck lid in order to take the pressure off of the latch. Then pull out on the handle.

I tried what you both suggested, Nothing worked. Now my back latch plastic lever is broken, I tried to force it. Im now down to how do I break in with as little as damage as possible so I
can take it apart and fix it.

Man the only way I seen was to remove the lock was from the inside. So both handles dont work?

Try pushing the lid down while pulling the latch too.

Good luck!

latch.jpgUpdate; I was able to get trunk open, by drilling a 5/8 hole about an inch to the right of the key cylinder. I was able to reach in with a claw foot screw driver and pull the cable to open the trunk.
What I found was that there was nothing wrong with my locking system, the problem was that both front and back cables were partially seized to the point that the plastic levers could not pull them to open with the front or back lid.
I was able to free up cables with WD40. I had broke the handle that opens the back trunk trying to open it. The left and right lever was only sold as a whole assembly. When I went to order a nEw one I found out that it is a discontinued part.
My dealer gave me a list from there parts locater and it had 4 possible dealers with one in stock. I finally located the lever assembly at the last place I called. so Im waiting for Parts to reassemble.

What probably happened when I washed trailer before putting it away for the winter, I got some water in the trailer and with the lid closed humidity was high and my cables corroded enough where trunk levers couldn't pull them.

Glad you got it sorted. :2thumbs:
Sorry for you that it took drilling holes in things to do that. :sour:
And even more so that it was soo difficult to find replacement parts! :gaah:
