RT XM Install

I'm thinking of having my dealer install the XM kit on my RT and was wondering if someone has the installation instructions I could review before I committed to the job. When installing the XM and CB kits should there be some overlapping labor? Has anyone had their dealer do this install and how many hours were you charged? I've had the frunk off but would rather ride than take on taking the trunk off. This work thing keeps getting in the way of my riding needs and I just don't have the time now that summer is here.

Haveing installed both the CB and the XM as well as the Entertainment Harness that is required to make it all work. It is a full day install. If you are thinking of getting both the XM and CB I would advise you get it done together as pretty much the same panels are off all though if you just do one or the other once the entertainment harness is installed adding the other option isn't quit as advasive.

All that being said I discontinued my XM service as I kept dropping the signal. I moved the antenna twice to no avail. I would drive down the road and get a great signal ,then turn around on the same road and lose the signal.:dontknow:

As far as the CB I find it works great for an intercom as well as to listen to the radio,Ipod and GPS and totally sucks as a CB. I fooled around forever with it and find it frustrating at best. Don't base your purchase on my reviews but read more posts and then decide.

Same problem different bike

I had the same experience with XM on my HD Street Glide, different style of bike but same sort of XM setup. If I was heading north, the signal would be non existent. If I rode any other direction it was OK. I know the satalites are in the southern sky so I assume that depending on the placement of the antenna on the Spyder sooner or later your body is in the way.

On my current set up I have a zumo 550 with the gxm30 puck. It's a small disc that's magnetic that plugs into the zumo cradle. No install needed plug and play, tons of advantages. Can move the zumo and puck to Goldwing, car, truck and have one subscription. Does traffic through zumo while routine, can listen to XM while still listening to gps traffic and directions.

Not had any reception issues, you get the odd few seconds break but there few and far between. I get my spyder Saturday with the zumo 660, hoping the gxm 30 puck works with the new zumo

Any future spyder Ryder's reading this, see what deal you can get on the cb, audio, entertainment cable at purchase and while the spyder is still in its crate. They can add all this while it's beening assembled much cheaper than afterwards.. Just my 2cents.


Also you can deal with XM subscription, never paid more than $75 for a year, I recently canceled and they kept begging me to come back, re subscribe for $50 for the whole year.
