• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT Tool Kit. Putting it back in place....

Hello Folks.
I'm a new owner of a 2011 Spyder RT. I received my bike a couple of weeks ago. Been very happy with the experience so far. The only thing I need help with (for now) is with the tool kit.

The previous owner removed the tool kit from the underseat placement. I want to put it back, however the tool kit only has one velcro type strap. I have a feeling that it needs two. Can someone explain to me how to get the tool kit back in place if it only uses one strap???

Thank you!!!!

It comes with a funky plastic D-ring, that is loose on the strap so it can be doubled back on itself. Mine disappeared into the bowels of the beast the first time I loosened the strap. Yours probably did, too. Only viable solutions would be fabricating a D-ring (probably easily lost again, buying a new strap assembly (if available), coming up with your own creation, or letting the toolkit lie on top of the brake cylinder. My 2010 had the same problem due to repeatedly broken O-rings, so I elect to leave the darned thing lie there. This is not one of BRP's finest designs, I'm afraid.

I have a 2012 RT Ltd and it has two straps, but i took it out from under the seat and put it in one of the pockts in the front storage area

I guess I follow the previous owner advise and leave it in the front compartment too...

I bought a toolbag from harbor freight ($8.00), a mini air compressor, and a tire plug kit. Then I took thr brp toolkit, put it in the bag, and it goes in the left saddle compartment.

I keep all of my tool kits in the rear trunk also. BRP, Buell (nice), a torx kit, metric allen wrenches and some of those wratchet wrench thingies.

I have a 2010 Spyder RT-S SE5

It came with the O Ring to hold the Tool Roll Kit in place but the O ring was falling apart, So I decided to see if I could
improve on it

This was my Fix :-

1 - I placed my Tool Roll in a small Dry Sack bag which are Fully Welded Waterproof Dry Bags,- Bag is rolled and clipped together to
form a watertight seal
2 - Purchased 4 Stainless Steel D Rings - These can fit over the plastic tabs as used by the old O Ring
3 - Purchased 2 Small bungee straps used to secure the Tool Roll kit underneath as before

Thread the Bungee strap through the D Rings and then secure the D Rings on to each Tab - Stretch the Bungee strap over the
tool kit roll and then clip the ends to the D Rings or they can be clipped to each other
This will keep the Tool Roll secure and it can be undone should the need arise

I have added some photos :-

I use this stuff from big box hardware stores and it should work:

velcro

It is great for wrapping all kinds of stuff. I used it to wrap up my cover, my rain suits, etc. This is not the two piece stuff - it is one piece that wraps back on itself.

Flamingobabe has the best tool roll I've ever seen!! I think she made it and hotglue stocked it with tools. I think she could do anything but a major overhaul:roflblack:.
