RT Side Case Hinge Upgrade/Repair Kits available

We have finally put together the kit for the side case hinges and have tested them on the 2014 & 2015 RT's. If anyone wants one, send me a PM and put Hinge Upgrade in the subject line. We had to do a few modifications so they will work on all the above bikes. We will begin earlier year testing in a week or so.

We will be putting these on Ebay next week at a slightly higher amount to offset the cost Ebay charges. Get them through the PM here at a discount!

Everyone that bought them should have the shims in the mail. Send me a PM with your email in it and I will cross reference it to make sure it got sent. You may not have to use the shims. Some of the cases are matching up correctly without them.

Wow, you have a 2015 and they have already replaced yours? What a poor design.....

New Install Method

I believe I have found an easier way to adjust the spring brackets on the install. This way you don't have to deal with hinge flapping around.

One technique we have discovered is to support the lid, take out both bolts and lower the hinge pivot out of the way of the case and take a black shim and tape it to the spring bracket with paper tape on the part that has the direction sticker on it. You can then fit the bracket into the location and bend the tabs correctly. When you have that done, remove the shim, rotate the hinge back in place, place the new bolts through the spring bracket and tighten them up. Make sure just before they tighten to push up on the spring bracket to seat it.

I think this will make the install much easier.

I have a set of these on my bike, and can honestly say that the installation is pretty darn simple! :thumbup:
So simple in fact; that even I was able to install them!
This is a worthwhile addition to your bike! nojoke

I'm pretty sure that Doc brought these to the market... PM him, and see what he's got to say about them.
They were an easy installation (Even for ME!), and it's easy to see how they re-enforce the area around those hinges. A very worthwhile item to add to your bike! :thumbup:

We've been selling these for about 2-3 months. In fact, I installed about 10 sets at Spyder in the Smokies. One poor lady had the hinge broken all the way through in 2 pieces. Was able to get it repaired, but it sure would have been stronger to have upgraded before it broke.
