• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT saddle bag release

Bought a 2012 RT yesterday and have a question for the members. The left saddle bag releases with no problem, the right takes multiple pulls on the release before you hear the click. Is there anything to check, oil or whatever to fix this?

I believe, without looking it up or looking again at my bike, that both the cable and the latch have some adjustment in them. Or maybe its the loop part on the lid. A little oil or lithium grease on the latch mechanism might help.

There is a cable adjustment behind the release levers. Not fun to get to. I had the dealer adjust mine when one would not open.

Latch

There is a bit of adjustment on the bag latches. Loosen the two torx screws, and move slightly. You can dust them with powder, close bag; open bag and see where the powder is disturbed. Adjust and tighten. Joe
stop in Las Vegas on your way to AZ; I can fix it for you!

My response with a 2014 might be irrelevant, but I have the same problem as you.

It opens consistently if I stand to the side of the right saddlebag, gently press with my right knee, and raise the release lever.

Thanks for the responses . I'll take a look at it as soon as I can pry it away from the wife. What a dramatic difference from my 08 GS. Joe I might take you up on that, I need to have it aligned. Are you going to do another session in AZ this winter? If not it would be a good excuse for a ride.
Thanks Again.

If you remove the rear panel from the bike; the adjustment cables are right there in front of you...
Open the top trunk, and remove the 8 screws (4 on each side of the two that hold the top trunk latch in place.
Open up the saddlebags, and remove the two top screws from each...
Once they're out; it's a matter of wrangling it loose from it's position. Patience and perseverance work best!
Good Luck!

Dealer adjusted mine...

....at my 3K mileage checkup. Turnbuckle on each side adjusts the slack in the cable. Both of my side bags work slick now.

I have to do the exact same thing except my problem is on the left side.
