• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT-S/Zumo 660 GPS & XM RADIO COSTS

Ok, old subject, but I had to put in my nickles worth. If a customer orders a machine from us with options, those options are factory installed. If he gets the machine in the field and decides he wants another option installed, he then pays for that option and the field labor rate to install it. Note though, that some options can only be installed at the factory. We will give a quote to install options in the field.

Personally, I like the BRP location, so I bought the Kwelmetal mount. Works a treat, and holds the Ram mount for my coffee cup too. Wiring was a bit of a chore, & took a couple of hours, but wasn't horrific.

One of the forum members posted a pic, and showed the pin-out for the Spyder's GPS plug. I spent $0.10 for two female pins at Radio Shack, and used the stock Garmin 550 power cord. I drilled a small hole in the plastic plug in the center of the handlebar, and the wiring looks factory. All in all, it was a reasonable Saturday afternoon, and I have my 550 installed, including sound/voice commands via the stereo for the price of my used 550 ($350).

Now, I have to wire my trailer hitch…...

This thread sure makes me feel like I am making the right decision at getting the base model RT. I'm willing to do all the extra work out in my garage for beer and food.;)

Can you tell me where I could find the post with the pinout for the gps plug? Are you talking about the round plug with four female connections inside that is hidden under the front speaker grille?

So where did you wind up installing the new XM antenna on the RT? I have an older XM portable reciever I've been using in the rear trunk and using it's built-in FM modulator. Problem is with the magnetic antenna in the trunk the signal keeps cutting out when I drive in different directions (think my passenger could also be blocking the satellite signal at times).

I had the same situation with my old XM portable (Pioneer Inno Gen 1), so recently I broke down and put a velcro dot on the top of the trunk lid. Functionally the same as the magnet, if a little less elegant. The reception has ben good, although I have only ridden around with my 14 year old, so blocking the signal might still happen with a larger passenger. It is the highest non-windscreen point on the machine.
