• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT-S first ryde impressions

Yesterday I took my first ryde on an RT-S, after 5000 miles of experience on an SE-5. Here's what I found:

The up-right seating and wide, heated handlebars are very comfortable.
I could definately go long-distance on it. I can't on the non-RT due to hand cramping after 30 minutes.
The seat is more comfy than the non-RT seat.

The steering is different...its lighter (more boosted) and just off center, it reacts "too quickly", not linearly like the SE. Ths could be due to the higher center of gravity. I could get used to it, but it was odd.

It has plenty of power. I was concerned about the extra weight...not a problem. Its not a rocketship like the SE/SM, but its entirely adequate.
(This was with one 150 pound rider only, no assenger or luggage or trailer).

There was a rotational grinding/pumping noise when the brakes are applied. Could be unique to this specific machine...it only had 12 miles on it.

I miss the larger digits in the tach and gear position indicator compared to the non-RT.

All the goodies are GREAT...storage, adjustable windscreen, a real temp gauge, weather radio, electric parking brake, being able to open the front trunk while its running, etc. etc.

If I could trade-up without taking a financial bath, I would, especially for Orbital Blue!

Interesting comments, Gary, thanks for sharing. Even though I'm a new owner of a 2010 RS, it was interesting to hear your comments on the RT-S.

Not sure, exactly, but this maybe because there is a brake break-in period of about 300km (at least on the RS there is). Perhaps that is just the normal sound/part of the brake break-in process?:dontknow:

Thanks for sharing.

I recall that noise on the first few miles on my spyder. I made an appointment for the dealer to check it, but by the time I got there the noise had disappeared, and I haven't had a brake problem since.

Nice review for those of us who have not test rode an RT yet. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
