• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT problem

I have a new (20 Miles) 2014 RT, got home shut off the RT went to go on a ride and the can am was in First but would not move. the trike appeared to be in neutral but the display said first gear. any ideas what went wrong? dealer picked it up in trailer.

Was the Parking Brake on? Did you try shifting it into reverse; and if so, did you hear/feel it engage?

As above

The same as above, I know they sound obvious, but new machines can catch you out.
Best of luck with you getting it sorted soon and hope it isn't another problem with the 2014's to add to my ever growing list ;)

So I take it the dealer couldn't get it to move either? Hopefully they can figure it out quickly and get you back on the road.

Just a thought..!!

many RT have hung up in the past. There was a way to manually shift with a wrench in the tool kit. May have needed that extra shift. Now this should not have happened to start eith. Hope it's a simple fix and they bring it back to you soon. Nice dealer..came and picked it up..wow..!!

So the display indicated 1 and the machine would not roll by hand with the parking brake off? That could be a problem.

If the machine is started in 1 it will shift to N on startup.

Either way, with it in gear or in N, with the brake off it should move by pushing.

Did you try and fire it up where it was, just for a moment and see if it went into neutral on startup?

You need to have foot on brake before starting 2014 RT if left in gear

The 2014 Spyder RT needs to have your foot on brake before it will start, or shift itself into neutral if it is in 1st gear.
If you had your foot on brake before starting RT; then I am sure the dealer service will find the other minor problem quickly.
I have 5,300 miles on my 2014 RT.
Enjoy your new RT when you get it back from dealer.
Awesome torque from triple motor, smooth shifting SE6 trans, quiet, good mileage, 175-200 miles per tank before fill up.
Enjoy.

not just the 14's

FYI-- Foot on the Brake is not only for 14's...I the same for my 12 RTL. I got stuck by the side of the road for 30 minutes when I first got mine because of the Exact same situation. Bike died in gear and wouldn't go into Neutral without starting...Then broke out the "Operators Guide" and there it was....The SE5 model can be started in any gear with the brake pedal depressed. The transmission automatically shifts to neutral when the engine has been started.1. Push down and hold the brake pedal. 2. Turn the key to ON.
Please NEVER tell my wife I read that book!

Talked to the dealer and he tells me that the hydraulic shifter messed up.

tried everything to get into first, even the dealer rep could not get it into neutral.
