• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT or RT-S ? pros , cons

That's pretty much up to you. Be aware that the RTS features can be added separately (sometimes at increased cost), and some features are also available in the aftermarket. All Spyders have the air suspension, but on the RTS and LTD it is automatic, with a switch to set it, a sensor, solenoid valve, and onboard compressor.

:agree: you can add whatever RT-S features that you want to the base bike; I did just that in fact... My A&C is now an RT-S in every way except for the V.I.N.B
ut... It costs more time and effort than if you had simply bought the upgraded version from the start... it's not a sport for the faint of heart!
I do like the ACS suspension though... and the extra chrome trim... and the foglights... and the accent light...and the... :D

Consider purchasing the ACS Kit

Air ride or no air ride

You can purchase the "air controlled suspension" (ACS) kit for around $500 and if you are "handy" install it yourself. The RT is pre-wired for it. Its not a difficult install, just takes time and patience. Then purchase 1/2 hour of BUDS time from your dealer to calibrate the ACS.

If all you would want is the ACS then even if you had the Dealer do the install its alot less expensive than pricing difference between the RT & RT-S.

if you ryde sometimes 2up - the (adjustable) air ride is a "must-have" - I installed it on my Standard RT ..no problem

The RT S is more than just adjustable suspension. The fog lights, chrome, lined frunks (with light) - even a keyed tumbler, in case you want a trailer… I have a friend with a R/C & there's noting wrong with his bike, but I have the "S", and would buy it again, if I were looking.

On the 2013 the base RT does not have the new style front fenders. I had a 2010 and a 2013 RTS and if I buy another Spyder it will most likely be the RTS again.

No one has mentioned that the RT-S and RT-Ltd have floor boards, the RT does not.

I like having the floor boards on my RT-Ltd.

rt/s

i bought the rt/s because i liked the small floor boards and not the pegs, but if your going to go for the GPS and bluetooth go for the package they offer because i ordered it all separate and it ended up the dealer did not realize we also needed the special audio cable and we had to order one and it took a week to get it. ordered separate or the package deal costs the same and they didn't charge for the install . good luck with whatever you buy and as soon as you get the vin number let them check if it needs ball joints so they can also order them

I have one of each. I upgraded my RT-S with floorboards, a seat, and some additional lights. On the RT A & C, I added floorboards, a seat, and some additional lights (fogs included). Saw no need to have the automatic suspension and am happy with both, now as farkled. I was willing to pay the big bucks when they first came out (2010) but got a little less extravagant in 2012--when I purchased the 2011 New.

air ride is worth it, very nice to not have to adjust it, and it adjusts on the fly. Everything else on the RT/RTS is cosmetic. it will cost a lot more to add stuff post on RT. Fog lights are nice to have but not required.

I installed a 10amp socket in the dash of my RT with my air compressor and gauge it as adjustable as I need it. Do a search on compressor failure/leakage. I could barely justify what I paid for the RT and would rather DIY anything I want to make mine unique (see sig)

Love my RT-SE! Besides, the color choice made it easy for me! But once farkelosis sets in you are hooked, no matter what the model! Happy riding!

Frunks (with light)?

The RT S is more than just adjustable suspension. The fog lights, chrome, lined frunks (with light) - even a keyed tumbler, in case you want a trailer… I have a friend with a R/C & there's noting wrong with his bike, but I have the "S", and would buy it again, if I were looking.

Light? what light? I have a 2012 RT-S and there's no stinking lights in my frunk. If there's is, it's not working. Should I have a light in the frunk?

It only works when the engine is running (dumb!) and until the display times out afterward. It is on the right side, toward the front. It took a dark garage and Lamont's help to find mine. Pretty useless, for the most part.
