• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT MID SIDE PANEL REMOVAL

Good Afternoon All,

Went for a short ride with my RT 2013 yesterday, when I noticed a large crack 1-1/2" long, and several other small cracks, at the rear, of the left of the Mid side panel, where the side storage compartment overlaps.

Question 1 : Can I remove
the side storage compartment, in order to fix the panel from behind without removing the panel.

or

Question 2 : Can I remove the Mid Side panel, without removing the mirror and top side panel.

Thanks guys

Dom

I'm going to say no and no. Almost everything starts with removing the mirrors! It's not that big of a deal, really. What you need to do first, IMO, is try to figure out why the panel is cracked. Something is haywire somewhere.

To take the side compartment off you have to remove the entire rear module.

Once you have disassembled the body panels once it really is not difficult... and I am not a mechanic by any means! Here is a video that Shawn Smoak did:

Good luck.

Thanks for the video, really helped.

Now that I have removed the panel, I need to fix it, any suggestions.

That tupperware material doesn't lend itself very well to repair.
aluminum held with pop rivets on inside and pop rivets ground down is my only thought.
Probably others here will have better ideas.
