• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT manual on the iPad

I got my manual from Midwest Manuals also, but i have followed the directions for putting it on my pod and when you open it up it says all the pages are there but nothing shows up.

So my question is did you have trouble due to the file being password protected? We bought our manual this year.

Thanks Cheryl

I have the same issue. I think maybe it has to do with the PDF you download from them (at least it tells me you need it) having to use the newest Adobe Viewer X, and maybe Apple IPAD of ours using the ibooks viewer has not been updated to run X version yet? Just a guess but I even requested a re download from Midwest and they sent me another link for the manual and and 2ND link with a note saying be sure and use this Version X of Adobe Reader, that it is required.

My other PDF manuals, like the operation manual, etc.. work fine, but this one manual does not.

Maybe there is another app for Ipad that we can get that will run it. I am going to do some more research. Anyone out there got any more ideas, or can confirm or reject my thinking of the issue?

Same exact problem I am having! Yes, I believe it has to do with the password protection. I have tried everything and still can't get it to work. Midwest offered to refund my money. It works on my computer, just not the iPad.

How I Got the Manual To Display

Not sure if this will help anyone but here is how I got the manuals to display on my Ipad.

When the manual was on my Mac I opened Itunes --> Books and dragged the manuals into that screen. Once there, I sync-ed Itunes with my Ipad and, of course, the manuals were loaded into the Ipad.

On the Ipad I opened Ibooks --> Collections and selected PDFs. All of the manuals were there and all could be read.

An alternative you could try the Goodreader app. It is a text reader which has built-in wifi server. Once installed on your Ipad, click on the wifi icon at the bottom left of the screen -- the one right next to the camera icon.

That will open a wifi connection to your Mac -- it provides the address it has established on the Mac (in my case it is http://10.0.1.9:8080). If you type this address in your MAC browser (e.g., Safari) you will see a page showing the link to your Ipad. Browse for the manual file, find it and it will uploaded to your Ipad inside Goodreader. I just did this with the Users' Manual file on my Mac and it is now there in Goodreader to read.

A pdf is a pdf. If it can be read on your Mac it can be read on your Ipad.

Hope this helps. I have the Spyder User's Manual, the Service Manual, the Sena SMH10 Manual, the Zumo 550 Manual, the Spyder Reference Part Numbers and Diagrams, the March09 Spyder Dealer's List on my Ipad and can read them all using either of these methods.

the manual is on my iPad, it just won't display the pages even though all the pages are there. I have all the other manuals loaded and they all work except the RT repair manual.

Same here. All other PDFs show full in iBooks PDF reader area. This new 2010-11 service manual for RT shows up in my collection, shows all the hundreds of pages are there and you can change pages, but all pages are blank. This one PDF file is also the only one that would not open on my PC until I upgraded to newest AdobeReadar version X instead of the version 9.4 I was using, so that makes me wonder if iBooks program might not be updated to handlemthe new Adobe version X? Just a guess

Manual on IPOD

Does anyone know how to update ADOBE READER on IPOD to the newest version?
Its nice to know Im not alone.

I've done a search on this problem and one successful suggestion is to SAVE the pdf on your main machine (not on the Ipad). That seems to remove whatever compression is in the original file which can't be handled by the Ipad.

I don't have one of the non-displaying file (if anyone wants to send me one at the address below, I will try all of this) so I can't test it.

Preview on the Mac displays pdfs and allows saving to another file name. If I had such a file that is what I would use.

Here is the link to the forum with this suggestion:

What reader are you using to display them?

I have tried iBook and several PDF readers, which I had to pay for. Before I purchased an iPad 2, I had an Acer tab. Same results and it even told me the PDF was password protected. When I asked Midwest for the password, he said he wouldnt give it up since he thought I might try cutting in on his business. I tried saving it first to my computer, tried changing the file name. Same results, blank pages. Midwest thinks that a future upgrade will fix the problem.
