• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT manual on the iPad

I tried doing this today. The manual is in iTunes. I can see it and open it. I synced the iPad twice but it doesn't show up? :dontknow:
Here's how I do it.

  • copy file from your CD/DVD to your hard drive
  • open itunes
  • look on the left for "Books" and click on it
  • fine the pdf file on your computer and drag it over to "Books"
  • plug your iPad into your computer and then sync your ipad to your computer

OK, thanks to Lamonster, I now have the 2008 repair manual on my iPad. In addition, you can download the operator manuals direct from BRP in .pdf format, which I did for the 2008 RS, 2011 RT and the 2011 Trailer.

Now, here is a problem I am having. I purchased the 2011 RT repair manual off of eBay and it works perfect on my computer. I transferred it like I did the ones mentioned above to my iPad. It shows the page numbers but they are all blank?

Anyone have any idea on what is going on? The only thing I can think of is the 2011 is in a newer .pdf format that the iPad in not able to display? Anyone else having this problem?

manual...

I have never been able to load the manual into iBooks. It attempts to sync, then goes into "creating a backup" mode, then sits for hours.
I finally gave up and am using an app called Good Reader. Problem with this is it won't allow index searching or page jumps.
Lamont, please let me know the trick. :helpsmilie:

I have all of the manuals for the 2008 RS on my IPad in the IBooks app and I can read all of them.

I simply dropped them into Dropbox, opened the IPad and brought up the Dropbox on the IPad, saved them to IBooks as pdfs and there they were.

I can, also, read them in Evernote, IAnnotate and Goodreader. I'm not sure what is happening with your setup. Just wanted you to know that I can read them though I haven't tried any doc for the RT or the late Spyders.

iPad's 'r' strange...

Well, I finally got the iPad to open the RT maintenance .pdf file in iBooks tonight. I wound up opening Good Reader, selecting the .pdf file, and then told it to "open in" iBooks.
When I went back to the .pdf shelf in iBooks, low and behold, there it was. The file was on the iPad, but I have no idea where.
This whole Apple "sync" thing has me baffled. :dontknow: Give me the good old drag and drop of Windows. :2thumbs:

I went to midwestmanuals to order a manual. When I went to paypal to pay for it I noticed that it said I was ordering from Dewey Cheatem & Howe Inc. I was worried before I got to that point and now I'm really wondering. I cancelled the order but wonder if anyone else has seen this?

This is the screen that came up.

I just downloaded the latest version from BRP for the 2010 RT and I can read it fine. There is no problem on my IPad with the version of Adobe Reader.

QUESTION ABOUT MANUAL

I got mine on ebay too. The company is Midwest Manuals

I got my manual from Midwest Manuals also, but i have followed the directions for putting it on my ipod and when you open it up it says all the pages are there but nothing shows up.

So my question is did you have trouble due to the file being password protected? We bought our manual this year.

Thanks Cheryl

If I remember right I got the CD and loaded it from there. It's been a while. I didn't have any issues.
