• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT lower side black plastic reinforcement?

My local BRP dealer says there's a metal accessory part available that reinforces the black curved lower side pieces on an RT (BRP calls them rain deflectors)
so that you can then safely use the rain deflectors as foot rests without breaking them. Anyone heard of that?

I saw these before I posted my thread. I'm not sure this is it. The ESI site doesn't say anything about resting your feet on them, and they don't appear to attach to the frame or body,
so if that's true, all the weight of your foot is on the original mounting points of the rain deflectors (meaning one push-pin and one screw)...correct?

No, you remove the push pin and replace it with a machine threaded screw and there is a aluminum plate that goes between the plastic and the frame, very sturdy but you would not want to stand on them, the black foot rests are also screwed to the top of the rain deflectors.

That's reassuring. Although the vendor site doesn't show or describe any of what you've explained,
based on your message, I'll recommend this to my customer. Thanks!

I just cut two alum strips to fit that area, drilled two holes, rooted around in my junk box and found screws to fit front and back and thats all it takes. It does firm up the air wings for resting your foot on, but remember not to push hard on them. The whole shebang is only attached to a plastic frame; not a piece of metal anywhere down there.
