• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Limited for Wife. Awesome Machine!

First I'm not a Spyder rider and wish to stick with my Ultra Classic so I hope you won't hold that against me! I tried to teach my wife to ride a two wheeler but after falling twice wanted nothing to do with it. Two weeks ago she said out of the blue "I want a Spyder". That night before she changed her mind I bought her a RT Limited and picked it up last week. She has been out on it now several times and loves it. :) Actually I think it's an awesome machine. I read that 27% who own Spyders are new to riding or don't feel comfortable on two wheels. My point is this machine is not just for seasoned riders (As many of you are) and allows others to enjoy the trill of riding. Enjoy your Spyder and be safe!

:welcome:

The Spyder is a great machine. I had to give up 2-wheelers 25+ years ago due balance issues (I was in my 20's). I never really liked traditional trikes and was actually looking for a convertible car to get my face in the wind when I discovered the Spyder. One test drive and I was hooked. I've had my 2008 GS SM5 since July of 2008 and have never regretted buying it.

New riders are attracted by several details of the Spyder, but two are the best: stability and semi-auto shifting.

It's a great machine for both experienced and novice riders. Awesome product.

Ultra Rider to Ultra Rider

First I'm not a Spyder rider and wish to stick with my Ultra Classic so I hope you won't hold that against me! It's true, Spyders extend the riding period for aging two-wheel riders and open the door to those of any age who feel less secure on two wheels; however, I'd dare say that many people get the Spyder, not because of any of these reasons, but because it is a fine, open air riding machine.
I have a beautiful, '07 Ultra that is soooo tricked out, but it merely sits in the garage gathering dust while I'm out playing on my RT-S. The HD has a 103 upgrade and is fast as heck...but probably can't stand a chance rolling on with the Spyder. I got the Spyder because my wife wanted to feel more secure when riding with me on the Harley, but now we both are avid arachnids. While there is a lot to be said about the Harley experience, if you play on mama's machine very much, you just might have to get you one. ...Gnirtsnod

:welcome: and :congrats: ! We won't hold your ride against you at all.

Now that your wife has entered the Spyderverse, let her know about this site, too. There are lots of women ryders.

I got one too.....

I got my Spyder to be prepared for the day when my old back finally says to
me 'No More Bikes'! So my 2010 white RS-S shares a garage with my 2002 BMW R1150R.
I'm a biker at heart but I regard the Spyder as a very worthy alternative to my bike or my car.
It's very different to either and now I've learned to adapt to Spyder riding it's a personal
achievement at my age. I'm 65 this year and I still enjoy riding fast. So you need to sneak into
the garage and errr.....borrow the Spyder for a day and when you get to the point where
you find that you're making excuses to ryde more often then perhaps you'll go and get one!!

Thanks

This seems like a great forum! I'll get my wife on here as she belongs here! I think I'm as excited as she is that she got it so we can ride together. I have snuck a ride and it's great! She no longer would ride with me on my 08 Ultra after the backrest/trunk actually broke off last year on a trip. Lucky she was not on it. Safe riding to all of you!

Yeeeeeep!!!!

Yeeeeep! Your hooked already and just don't know it!!!! Just wait!!!! it will happen!!!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Girls on Spyders

Now your lovely ladies have their :f_spider: :f_spider: let them know about the facebook group GOS - Girls on Spyders. Lovely bunch of women, from USA mainly but others from Canada, Europe, Australia. There is a link on the Spyderlovers home page here. They might find some others to ride with and therefore get more confident for the longer trips with you guys. :)

I was the same way, I wanted nothing to do with riding two wheels. My husband likes to say that for 20 years he tried to get me on a motorcycle and now that I have my Spyder he can't get me off of it. I've been riding since May 2010 and I've gone over 61,000 miles so far.

Well said..!!

congrats to the wife although it seems your somewhat curious yourself..beware..!!
