• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT is back from the shop

Question...

And I may have missed this in a previous post, if so forgive me... Do you have a GPS kit?

May be nothing... However I can say this... One of our Gremlins on our 2010 RT-S was a dead battery over and over and over... They looked and looked and looked. One day our Dealer of choice hired a new tech named Randy. He looked into it it a few times... One day he called up and said he discovered the issue. One of the wires for the GPS had been installed into the incorrect wire. As soon as he connected it correctly the dead battery issue disappeared.

Up to that point I had to trickle charge ours nightly in order to ryde it every day to every other day. Sometimes I could go a week, no issues. Other times a long ryde the day before would give me a dead battery the next.

Anyway... If not the issue, sorry for all the text. Just trying to be of help...

Thank you for the idea. The shop is going over it again.

yep, some GPS units have a step down circuit in them to take 12volts down to 5v. That circuit is running all the time, even if the GPS is turned off. I found out when I added a GPS to te handle bars, GPS unit was not even plugged in but the step down circuit was still hot. I saw a tiny spark when I went to attach the ground wire.

Please let us know what they find... Good Luck! (:gaah:)

Thanks Bob, the battery is being replaced and charged fully. Tomorrow the tech will take it for a ride, just like I did and then let it sit overnight and check the battery to try to replicate my issues. Time will tell.

GPS unit has been off each night and put into the house. In fact, I believe it has been off almost all of the last 7 months, along with ipod and mp3 player cables disconnected. Thanks for the ideas to have them look at. Does needle in a haystack sound familiar?

^^ Yes it does. And not a decent sized Needle at that :banghead: FYI... Our GPS was not on/in the cradle. And our tech said even he looked it over and over and thought it was correct. Then one afternoon he took one last look and found the problem... VERY crusty memory here.. I remember something like this... Not the "Blue wire with the white stripe" but the "Dark blue wire with the white stripe"... I am 100% certain that is not the actual colors, but my attempt at remembering resembles something along those lines...

Going to the doctor today. Suffering from SSS. Spyder in the Shop Syndrome.
No long-term cure known at this time, only short-time placebo induced satisfaction.

Walked around a small bike show tonight, trying to aleviate my SSS. Saw no Spyders at all, mostly Harleys and Hondas. Alas, it didnt help my condition at all. More Valium please.
