• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Let's not forget the increased damping on the 2011 front shocks, the cut-down windshield, and the revised wind deflectors. BTW, I have been asking for increased cruise control sensitivity for some time, which I got with the throttle body update, new throttle body, and new gauge cluster. It is a very welcome improvement!

Improvements

All these improvements it makes me feel like I own an old Spyder not just my 2010 model. I will put Iridiums plugs in at my 12,000 mile service. I would guess that my dealer should stock them if they are now standard on the 2012 models?

V4 Engine

BRP has all my money and won't get anymore until they replace the engine. Fine for most from what I read but NOT me. A multi cylinder with larger displacement is a must for a tourer with this bulk to push through the air. Just my thoughts.

Damn, I just had the windshield mechanism replaced under warranty because the control arm broke.

The new one is as shaky as the original.

The shake doesn't bother me, it's just that I think that was the root cause of the failure.

These types of continuous improvements and refinements (many driven by warranty bulletins or technical service bulletins meant to correct problems or errors) are common for all vehicles. In many cases, if you have had some updates done under warranty, you have the same improvements. They are just not normally listed and quantified like this.

2012's

Has anyone heard when the 2012's will be available?

I have spoken with numerous dealers and even BRP (who were very tight lipped about the whole thing) and the general idea I get is: the 2012's will be coming out in December or around the first of the year. Keep in mind, that is nothing official and little more than idle gossip from Can-Am dealers (TN-Carolinas), but that's what they told me at the beginning of this month. Who knows what the reality is.

BRP Save a Life

Hope BRP is listeniNg. I have so many comments about gas fumes on the RT, bRTS, Limited. Many Spyder owners park their Spyders in their garages and basements, when they open the the door, they are overwhelmed with gas fumes, this Is a recipe for a bomb, a light switch, hot water heater, compressor, electric door opener is just the catalyst for a spark and an explosion.Lamonte was able to help his, surely BRPwill follow suit with a fix on the 2012's and a recall on the others before someone gets hurt seriously or even worse killed. I am a dedicated Spyder Lover, but can not help but hope BRP puts priorities on the fixes.

Does the replacement arm appear to be the same as the piece that broke??

To my untrained eye, the new arm appears to be the same as the old one.

I know for a fact that the replacement arm/mechanism carries a different part number than the original. I do not know if the new number is a true design change, or simply an inventory change.

Also, I was told that the old arm appeared to be a poor casting so it wasn't as strong as it could be. Only time will tell on the new one. I'm surely going to get the BEST warranty extension.

I'm with you Tonga...

I will NOT be riding a RT, until the power-to-weight ratio is equivalent too or better than my GS...

I had hopes of purchasing a 2012 RT with a significant increase in the HP and torque department...

BRP really stepped up the power in the ATV's for 2012...You can now get an ATV with a 1000 motor...

The Ski-Doo's, Sea-Doo's and ATV's FOLLOW NO ONE...

Maybe 2013 will be the SPYDER'S turn to lead the pack???
