I bought a 2014 RT LTD SE6 to replace a 2010 RTS SE5 earlier this month. All of my rides up to today have been solo (i.e., no need to use the CB radio). Today I went for a ride with my brother (Gold Wing Trike) and as soon as I hit the PTT (push to talk) switch on the left handlebar for the CB, it went into limp mode, tranny wouldn't shift, stalled when I stopped, etc.. I limped to the dealer where I bought it (who is excellent - Ken's in western NY State), they got only code U0073 as per the attached letter. I have a friend who has a 2013 RT and experienced this problem all last year with no fix.
BRP has issued a letter to its dealers and distributors, which explains almost everything. I've added some notes to the letter. If you have a CB, word to the wise: until they have a fix, don't transmit on your CB; and of course, advise your dealer and determine what they will do about it (possibly should be one of two bullets I've added to the bottom of the letter).
Other than the aforementioned, the 2014 is twice as good as the 2010, which I had no problems with (only a squeal noise which almost popped other riders eardrums, when my wife was on the back, had her helmet connected, her helmet cord was near the antenna, and I pushed the PTT for the CB). The triple sounds like a sports car with the Akrapovic exhaust and has been nicknamed the "growler". Other farkles (all BRP): vented windshield, adjustable side vents, tri-axis handlebars, backrest on stock seat, CB and communication system, and trailer hitch. High mount tail/brake light from Custom Dynamics, Powerlet socket for battery charger, trailer wiring stuff from etrailer.com, cover from SpyderSisters.
The letter is apparently too large to attach here, so if you send me your e-Mail address, I can send it to you. Or ask your dealer for a copy of: "ROADSTER 2013-14 CB Communication Kit Stop Sale and Installation (RT)_000079911_MES61Y013S20_en" dated/published 04/14/2014.
