So I rode the other day and noticed that my right blinkers were not working. The light in the dash worked but neither the front or the back blinkers worked. I checked the fuses and everything there looked ok. That same day I was cleaning out the shed where I store my RT and in the box where I keep my original seat, I found a family of mice living in the box. Needless to say, they don't live there any more.
I was pretty sure that the mice were the cause of the blinkers not working so I made an appointment with the dealer (Metro Harley, CanAm and Suzuki in Cedar Rapids, IA) to have them look at it. I rode the bike 50 miles to the shop in 40 degree weather. It really wasn't that bad but I did dress for it. Well the mechanic confirmed my suspicions, the mice were in the bike and they chewed up the wiring harness behind the dash. The mechanic said it was lucky that I even made to the dealer. So now I need a new wiring harness and the mice also chewed up one of the wires for my HID lights I have installed.
On top of all this, I'm having my knee replaced tomorrow so my riding season is over. Metro will be ordering a new wire harness and fixing the RT and they are going to deliver the RT to my house 50 miles away when it's done since I won't be able to ride for a while yet. The other nice thing was Metro also gave me a ride home today. It just goes to show that having a good dealer like Metro goes a long way when riding a Spyder.
I'm also going to look for something to keep the mice out of the Spyder when I get it back. Any suggestions?
Have a great day!
