• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT-622 Net System Thoughts?

Thanks everyone for the comments. I really appreciate the help. It is really nice to be able to learn from the people who have been there and done that.

Haven't got my trailer yet, just wondering:

1. What is optimal hitch weight, & how do you test it?
40lbs per the manual - I got a luggage scale to test mine and I just keep it in the trailer
2. What is advantage of "kick stand"--just so you don't have to lift trailer by tongue?
Makes it nice to have the trailer sitting level when not hooked up to the bike. Makes it easier to load/unload in my opinion.
3. Are those BRP plastic cargo chocks any good--for $35 or whatever?
I've no experience with those...sorry.
4. Any tips for carrying gasoline inside the trailer--best container, source, etc. The tongue carrier looks efficient, but not sure I like the appearance.
I use a couple of the Reda 1 gallon gas cans, but I carry them in the left pannier since they seem to fit so well together in there, thus leaving the trailer interior gas fume smell free.

Thanks for the comments so far.

Bert
See comments in bold above...hope that helps.

40 pounds is the maximum. You should not go less than 15 pounds. Optimal is usually considered to be 10%-20% of the loaded weight for any trailer. Better too much than too little...too little causes the trailer to sway. Way too little can cause it to sway uncontrollably. Test with a bathroom scale placed under the hitch...or use an "educated" arm to lift it.

2. What is advantage of "kick stand"--just so you don't have to lift trailer by tongue?
If the trailer is unhooked, it holds the trailer level for easier loading, and less chance of damaging the bottom if the little rubber bumper on the tongue comes off. Very convenient accessory. I agree that it should be standard equipment.

3. Are those BRP plastic cargo chocks any good--for $35 or whatever?

They can be handy. They stick to the carpet with velcro on the bottom. We use them to hold our cooler in place in the center of the trailer, over the axle. Not much use for anything else except maybe a spare tire, due to the large size.

4. Any tips for carrying gasoline inside the trailer--best container, source, etc. The tongue carrier looks efficient, but not sure I like the appearance.
I tried carrying Reda cans inside the trailer, using the cargo blocks. They move around too much and there is no good way to tie them down. In the end I put the two Reda cans in my left saddlebag and the luggage in the trailer. The flat Rotopax cans have a bracket that could be mounted inside the trailer, and might be a better choice with their compact shape and the attachment bracket. A Rotopax would mount in the center of the front compartment quite nicely, I think.

I just love my net system. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I strongly recommend it.

:agree: I have all of the accessories for the trailer with the exception of the interior light.

The tongue stand is a must. I also store my extra fuel (2 Reda Cans) in the rear of the trailer down low and use the velcro cargo chalks divider to keep in place. Really works. Only need 1 pair. When traveling I place my samsonite makeup case on top of the Reda , fits perfect. Can provide photo as long as you don't make fun of the case. :D:opps:

The net system keeps stuff from moving around. You also learn to pack with more thought in where things are going to go, it helps to remember where you put what you packed.;)

Ticketbait has a great setup. I got my accessories because I liked his so much after he was kind enough to give me a tour.

trailers

i just bought a new 2010 time out dart, tire pressure says 60 lbs max load. seems 40 lbs would be plenty for little trailer. under pressure is bad also, been years since pulled trailer. what do you guys run for pressure? it has 12" tires
