• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RSS to RT

Is it possible to convert 2010 RS S to touring? I got a good deal on the RSS but so want to go for the long rides.

I would say yes. Here is my 2008 GS. I claim to have one of the first RT's, but traded it in when the "real" RT's came out. I got premier edition #474.

The bags were GIVI (BRP) the other heavy hardware Fairing and Trunk were Corbin. PS. Corbin bags look better.

I should emphasize--this LOOKS like an RT. The ride is still that of the more crotch rocket like RS. There are handling and comfort differences on the RT. After I purchased the RT, a ride on the 2009 RS (the red one) was noticeably different.

Long rides are doable on any version. I put 23,500 miles on the 08 in less than two riding seasons.

How long of rides are you considering? I ride a 2010 RSS and do 400 mile days allot. But never have ridden an RT. But am happy with my ride. But have rode Wings Hogs
Triumps and others. But don't really see the reason for all the extras some people need. I know 400 mile days are not much to some as they were not to me when younger but now at 82 its about all I can do. So if your happy with the feel of your ride get some saddle bags and just go!

For starters you can add storage:

Correction, for a 2010 you will need to use risers...(Then change out for ST or RT handlebars so you sit up straighter):

But there is still more such as suspension, windshield, floorboards, and so on. The list may be infinite?

You are correct. But I don't need all that storage and was just wondering if he did? I have traveled light since 1945 and its just hard to change. But I enjoy all the input on how others do.

If you travel with a lady who has her own :spyder2: or not, I think you will find the extra storage is needed. For me, I can pack a weeks worth in a single small suitcase or one of the big bags.

foot pegs forward

Thanks for all the response...very helpful. My #1 would be getting my feet in a more forward position but the front side panels seem to be in the way. This Spyder was customized by adding a hand brake/brake off throttle, so I have 2 brakes. #2 is tour seat for 2.
Length of the ride would hopefully be within 400 mi/day (stopping to smell the roses). However, some days there is a need to push it to about 8-9 hr day.
