• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RS Owners: Feeling left out?

Training wheels

If BRP can keep the reliablity factor up on the RT I think this is certainly a true value.

Of course, it has to be what you're in the market for to be of any value at all. But up against the Harley and the Goldwing conversions I'd say it's a great deal.

I suppose you can get by cheaper with the training wheel kits personally, those do not appeal to me at all. I look at them everytime I go to a show and I still shake my head. Seems like the worst option of all regardless of price.

:agree:Isn't that the truth!!! nojoke

The power plant is the same but the monitoring system is much more complex. The RS has 400 lines of code to refer to and the RT has 400,000 lines of code.

OMG 400,000 lines? ... that's like possibily a thousand times more bugs? Haven't anyone learned from Microsoft yet? Keep It Simple and Stupid or plug your Spyder into your DSL every night for daily patches like your PC??? :roflblack:

Where is that RJ-45 connection on the instrement panel???

Pricing

Based on the pricing I would be surprised if the RT out sells the RS. Sure, lots of people will buy the RT but for the majority of buyers the price different will keep them looking at the RS. It will be interesting to see what the sales numbers are at the end of the year. Consider the fact that a new Mazda Miata can be had for $25,000, although not a three wheeler consider the the value in the product.

Bottom line, I think you'll see the popularity of the RS on this forum will return strongly in six months or so. The new guy on the block always draws attention for a while.

I don't know. You could be right. But my feeling is the RT will way outsell the RS.

As for the Miata, Apples and Oranges. A person looking for an Orange isn't going to be easily persuaded to buy an Apple just because of price.

I think if the demographics hold true...meaning, lots of people in their 50s and 60s (and beyond) buying the Spyders, then the RT will rule...the younger generation will go for the RS.

The touring model offers a lot of really nice features for longer rides...it's a beautiful bike...the RS can be modified to a large extent, but the major audience is more for fun/shorter rides...

Oh I don't know Doc, I think I heard the guys over at BRP say your nothing but a "big baby." :joke: :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: :D
