• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm on a quest to make this bike as comfortable for my fiancé as I can, as noted in a previous post. How do the backrest work on the rs will the set up that's installed only house the specific type of backrest or can you set up a different style of backrest

I would look at the backrest sold on this site that converts to a driver or passenger backrest...:dontknow:

Back rests..!!

the oem one sold by brp (expensive) and others (ebay, amazon, cheapcycleparts.com) is really massive and solid. I even built a luggage rack that attaches to it. Earlier models are adjustable the newer one is not but has other options. I believe smoothspyder (sponsor here on home page) makes one that can be moved from passenger rest to driver rest. There are some that have made their own. If you should go with the oem shop around for price...!!

I have the BRP original on my spyder. My wife says it's pretty comfortable (and she is picky). I have been thinking about getting the SmoothSpyder one so I can use it as the operator too.

Backrest for RS

We went to Spyderfest this year for the first time on our new 2012 RSS ...but before leaving, bought and mounted the new BRP part # 219400350....expensive but worth it....its wider and taker than their other model...and fits my husbsnd when we switch drivers!! Lol while we were at Spyderfest, we bought the ultimate seat...which really was the icing on the cake for our 8+ hour ride home. Plus, the new seat actually changed the angle slightly, made the backrest that much easier to actually lean into it. i have longer legs than my husband, so we have also put the BRP peg extenders on the rear...and with all 3 of these modifications, i would not even have to get off after several hours of riding if it were not for gas stops! Start with the backrest....then see how it goes for her :)
***if you get the backrest and seat from ultimate, you will save several hundred $$ over BRP .....we already had the backrest when we got the seat, separate...so we didn't get that lucky..lol
