RPM limited on 998?

Hello again!

Back to the 2008 GS. For some reason the bike got stuck in gear again, with the sensor. This time though the RPMs were limited to 2500. Of course no errors or engine light. I’m thinking of replacing the throttle position sensor. Makes sense if nanny reads bad position the bike would go into some type of limp mode. Anyone ever get RPM limited on the 998? Ideas?

Thanks much!
Steve

:lecturef_smilie: Sounds exactly like limp mode but you should see message on dash& codes:dontknow:

Interesting....🤔

Most often it is oil level problems or gear positioning sensor. Well as far as shifting. The limited throttle response could be the throttle sensor or the nanny controlled limp home mode...

You might want to check and make sure the shifter linkage didn't come loose. It's been known to happen on the older bikes.

Hi Culpjp,

Re: make sure the shifter linkage didn't come loose.

My '08 did this last Fall. It was stuck in 2nd gear about a mile from home.

Got it fixed & all is good.
