• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rough running Spyder after the service bulletin was performed

I had the service bulletin work done on my 2013 RTS SE5 a few days ago. I rode the 70 miles home with no problems. After I got home the service manager called to make sure everything was ok. I told him everything was just fine. However, I thought it was unusual that he called, because he had never done that before. Today, since it is in the 70's here, my wife and I were going to take a ride. I started it up and it is running extremely rough, and not just in idle. I put it in gear and it was still surging and running very rough. Before the software update it was running beautifully. There are no codes being displayed, just running crappy. Has anyone else experienced this after the update? :(

That's weird, mine came through with improvements for the good. I have had any issues with it since but only have put on about 120 miles since, now its snowing again!

Mine was just the opposite. It runs better.

Mine too although I've put around 1000 miles on it.

Yes, I did top off before I started back from the dealer. But it did not run rough on the way home. However, since my earlier post, I removed the key and took it away from the Spyder for a few minutes. I then went back and started it up, and it seems to be running fine now. I went for a ride and had no problems. I guess I'll just see what happens. Weird. Thanks for the replies.

Almost sounds like their computer may have gotten a case of heartburn and after you departed the tech and Service Manager were discussing the event and he got alarmed. Hence the call.

after the new mapping my is running smooth...gas and gas cap are not boiling and hot as before....is that from mapping or new O2 sensor????? don't know...but I'll take a bike that can get me from home to home with no issues....for the original post....if you keep having rough idle...surging from low to high rpm at idle...check plug wires....that was my problem

That was my thought as well. Another factor I wondered about is that I have no CAT, canister, purge valve, air box (kewl metal), and have an Akropovic exhaust. If this update is intended to make the spyder run richer, perhaps that is a problem.

I would call the service management and tell them what happened. As you indicated, it was a bit unusual for him to have called, so there must have been a reason he called. Perhaps he knows something about your service that was done and had a concern. I'm just reaching, but if there was something that happened - I'm totally making this up - a wire was accidentally pulled out of a box, but was "put back in and fixed", you might now have an intermittent problem. He might have been concerned, so called you.

When you call, ask him why he called. Afterwords you should tell him what happened. I think he is a square up SM. He might say bring in the bike, he knows what to fix...

I have a 2010 rt mine started that last summer. Start it it would run rough. Turn it off restart run fine rest of the day. Took it to dealer couldn't fine anything. I got to thinking it only happen after it sat overnight. My thinking is on start up the choke was sticking. Ran about 3 tanks of gas with stabil added been running fine since than. Now I add stabil about every 5th tank of gas. Go figure :dontknow:
