• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I had a Madstad adjustable bracket for the windscreen on my V-Strom and have been waiting for one for the Spyder. They've evolved into the RoboBracket and are available as of yesterday here:

It's adjustable both vertically and front and back, so it should provide for getting an ideal position to eliminate the airflow I'm catching on my forehead with my BRP 23" screen. The bracket bolts into the existing holes for the screen, but I'll have to drill 4 new holes to bolt it up to the bracket. They'll also supply a screen if you want to go that route.

I've ordered one and was told it would be about 2 weeks for delivery. I'll be sure to let you know how it is. Mark at Madstad is very good to deal with and is quick to reply to any inquiries.

I saw the Spyder prototype on Dltang's Spyder, and they are very well made, indeed. Another fine option, which will take your existing shield, if you desire. Based on my great experience with the CHAD, the adjustable bracket approach, which also raises the windshield off the cowl, is the best way to go for the Spyder. Raising the windshield a couple of inches all around does good things for the Spyder, IMO.
 
Yup, I've been working with Mark for a about a month and while I was in Africa, Brian has been using the Robo Brackett. His shield with the bracket is unbeatable. It does work with my F1 but I really like the sample he supplies to me.
 
I was able to get just the adjusting bracket for the CHAD minus the windscreen and used the BRP 23" instead pf teh CHAD . It works wonders.
 
I actually modified the CHAD bracket by cutting the two pieces that mount to the windshield down in size because I found that at the highest point the CHAD bracket held the windshield almost 4 inches off of the console and it really did not look all that good with the BRP windshield. Cutting them down brought the windshield closer to the console but still allowed for the adjustability of it. I also cut 2 pieces off of my old BRP sport windshield to use as "covers" for the exposed part of the CHAD bracket where it mounts to the console. I really did not like the look of the 4 arms of the CHAD mounting bracket being as visible as they were. The 2 pieces of old windshield gives the bracket a more enclosed and finished look. I am still looking for a suitable way to cover the original mounting holes on the windshield.

Okay, here are a few photos with the sample windshield Mark sent and also a few photos with the bottom part of my F1 slider that I took apart. Both work well but his sample works even better than the F1. The pictures have some glare so I hope you get the idea.

With both it almost appears that the windshield is "floating" in air above and in front of the console. This may appeal to some but for me I really didn't like the look. That is why I modified the CHAD bracket to bring the windshield closer to the console and yet still remain adjustable.

Actually, the RoboBrackets DO allow you to control the distance of the shield from the console. Unlike the CHAD, you can control the RoboBracket height, tilt and depth down to within about 27mm of the stock shield position. The reason Deb's brackets were positioned outward is because that's where the good airflow setting was. She could have set the shield very close in, but by getting more air under it you eliminate the vacuum that forms behind the shield and the result is smoother air. She also discovered that with the RoboBrackets, a smaller, simpler shield out-performed her larger curvier F1. Sometimes form follows function and in my book, the Spyder's looks aren't improved by strapping a huge plastic sail to the front, whether it's floating or not.
 
Hey Madstad welcome to the forum. I truthfully would have loved to try your brackets but since they were not ready at the time I was ready for the new windshield I had to go with what was available on the market. I have no doubt that your brackets are equivalent if not better then the CHAD.
 
My Madstad brackets made my V-Strom pure pleasure to ride.I'll be buying one of these right after my new RT gets here.

Would you see about making the brackets with built in threaded holes for GPS or MP3 equip.?Maybe thread them for RAM mounts?

I've been waitin on this too. I am 6'5 and trying to find something that works. The tall brp windshield on these brackets might be it, I'm just not crazy about having extra holes in it. I don't think the 20 inch madstad has would do it. I do think getting some air behind the windshield will help.

Brian is 6'4" and is finding some pretty nice positions with the 20" shield. They also offer a 22" shield as well. Brian will be posting some more results of his review soon.
 
I got some pictures of the RoboBrackets and their shorter windshield on my Spyder last night. I love this position for most all of my normal riding. It's a good intermediate position for a mix of city and highway riding. I could even go a bit lower to allow more wind in my face while riding around town. I might try something a bit higher and maybe a steeper angle if I was going to do a long highway ride.

I also made a little video showing me moving the windshield through a good portion of it's adjustable range so someone could get an idea of how much the brackets allow you to move a windshield. Note that I left my handlebars at full right turn and the windshield clears the clutch lever at all but the most radical angles.

Nice Video hon. I have to tell you, I love this set up and I really like the look better than any other windshield out there. I am ordering one for myself and I will have to send my new shield back to tatt2r for a new etching here in the not too distant future. It is the best of any I have tried and I really like the look.

LOL, hey if you want to call him hon, go right ahead. But remember, he is all mine...:D I think you will really like this Madstad set up. I sure do.
