• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Robobrackets by Madstad

Last night I finished installing Mark's Robobrackets with my 23.5 inch Cal-Sci windshield that I had just sitting in the garage. Been using BRP's 25 inch Ultra Touring shield which I will still use, but would prefer for Spring thru Fall. With the Robobrackets I can adjust it to a higher position and using the tilt, I now can get rid of the cold air by it going over my helmet. This is exactly what I wanted for Winter riding.

By the way....Mark is a great guy to do business with. He really cares about his customers and he's a pleasure to do business with.

My hat is off to Mark for a great design!

:congrats:

Glad to hear you had a good experience, and the brackets are working like you want them to. Thanks for sharing.

I too just installed my RoboBrackets today as well. Went on smooth and now just have to tweak in adjusting them.

Very happy thus far and can't wait to see how they work on a ride. Just need to let the 9 inches of fresh snow melt!

New member, very happy with Madstad

Hi everyone,
This is my first post, but I have been browsing all the discussions for a few months now. I just want to say "thanks" to all of you who share your real world experiences with mods, and I have greatly benefitted from your trials and solutions.

Based on discussions here, I decided to go with a Madstad 20" shield and robo brackets. I installed them this past weekend and couldn't believe the difference in my ride! I could actually hear music well on the freeway through my fair at best helmet speakers.

Anyway, I hope to post more soon. Glad to be a part of this forum, and the Spyder community overall. Ryding is such a blast!

I like mine too however I'm still tinkering with the tilt and height. I originally had it straight up and at its highest with the 22" shield. My MPG dropped dramatically. I'd like to get the shield up a little more with a little more tilt. But you only have so much plastic to play with. It looks like if I switch bracket locations I can get more height. Has anybody tried this?

Scotty,

How does the CHAD stack up to this setup? I'll likely get another shield this year sometime...oh, is the CHAD easy to install and once installed, can I put my BRP shortie shield back on again?

What I found is that higher isn't always better for keeping the wind or buffeting noise away. It just seems like that would make sense but I found I had to actually lower my shield from where I thought it should be and play with the tilt. I found, like you, that straight up and down did not work. I finally have the windshield in a great sweet spot for me. Keep playing and when you find it, you will love it.

Thanks Deb, I'll try it. BTW, are you getting 30 MPG before or after the MADSTAD? I filled up yesterday and it was 20. Horrible but great compared to my truck.

I am not Scotty and I can not compare the CHAD to the Madstad system. BUT. I can tell you that 1) the CHAD is simple to install and 2) it is easy to switch back and forth between the CHAD and a stock BRP shield. It can be done alone, but, it is even easier if there is a second pair of hands around.

From what I've seen - the biggest differences between the two are:

CHAD is easier to adjust.
Madstad is more adjustable.

CHAD is a bigger shield.
Madstad is smaller, but allows higher placement and adjustment.

CHAD seems a bit more sturdy built.
Madstad looks a bit sleeker.

CHAD has had recent reports of fitting problems and many are not too sure exactly what is going on with IND7. Perhaps Magic Man can chime in.

I really like my CHAD - but didn't care for the corners --- so rounding them is a MUST in my opinion!

Thanks for the info...that is one mod that's coming up...want to either get some bags, sway bar, or some other goodie in the meantime...hmmmm...

The Madstad brackets and windshield didn't have any affect on my MPG. I was averaging 30 mpg before and after. Now, with my rebuilt engine, I can honestly say, I sure hope the mileage gets better after the break in period. I am only on the second tank and am getting about 25 mpg. I want my 30 mpg back.
