• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where on the internet are the Roadkrome backrests listed that can be ordered? The Roadkrome site does not allow ordering. I went to a previous thread and the web address listed (as a Roadkrome dealer) did not sell to the public. Someone also listed a powersports dealer; but, I couldn't come up with a web address for the dealer to purchase from.

I'm actually looking for a luggage rack shown in Roadkrome's catalog. I've already purchased Roadkrome's trunk/tour pack mount kit from e-bay.

Retread,

This was from your post regarding Roadkrome. Did you order from the internet?

"I ordered the mount kit and backrest about 2 weeks ago; seems there was a rush on Roadkrome for Spyder stuff about the same time, can't imagine why:joke: so it'll be around April 11 before mine get delivered. I guess they weren't prepared for their popularity."

I ordered from a local cycle supply house. I think you can order on ebay, not sure, though.

Has anyone actually used this backrest. I am more interested in finding out exactly how it mounts to the bike. Looks like some things go under the see but not sure how it attaches. I want to be able to remove it at will and not leave any other hardware behind. Just need it when I am two up for long trips which is only about 2-3 times a year.

Hey there Patches, I was kind of wondering the same thing, does anyone have a picture that they can share with us???

PS: Danielle tells me you two are communicating, Cool, again thank you..

I haven't been able to post picture; my desktop is having seizures and my laptop won't recognize my camera.
The mounts for the Roadkrome backrest use bolts through the 2 holes where the push rivets go on your rear side panels, there are plates with welded nuts that the bolts go to. The backrest mounts with 2 bolts on each side and can be removed in less than a minute with the right tools. The mounts themselves are kinda permanent.

I also do not have a close-up photo of the install, but it comes with a plate with threaded nuts attached that go up under the tailpiece and bolts go through the holes where the pop rivets are that hold part of the rear side pieces on. You replace the plastic rivets with the bolts.

The mounts aren't really permanent. They'll come off in about 10 minutes, unless you have the Corbin saddlebags which have to be removed first... then it's more like 15 to 20 minutes.

To install, you just lift the seat, take out the plastic rivets on either side, take out the seven panel screws holding the undertail piece on, loosen the signal lights, get the bracket into place, hold the threaded plate underneath, and tighten the bolts down through the holes, then repeat on the other side.
