There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Road tested Spyder w/Kewlmetal handlebars

Early September I posted a thread and talked about the ergonomic issues I was having with the stock handlebars. E.g. sore hands, wrists, arms, etc. Initially I was opposed to giving up my PE center console. But when the pain gets too great it's time to be realisitc and throw in the towel. Well, I just got back from daddydarko's where I road tested his Spyder with the Kewlmetal 7" handlebars. I must say that I am very impressed with these handlebars. Though my wrists were not in complete alignment with my arms, this setup is certainly a huge improvement over the stock one. I was able to sit upright and this took the weight off my arms. What a joy to ride without arm tension or pain. In addition, my small 5' 2" frame was finally able to sit back vs. all the way forward on the seat. My tush finally had the opportunity to experience the joy and comfort of riding on the really padded part of the seat. What a nice ride! :2thumbs: So Matt, I'll be contacting you very soon!

Nice review on the Bars...I may be looking into them shortly myself especially since i just ordered the console and all. Matt when you read this can you tell me if there is any cable replacement that needs to be done to use the 7" bars on an SE5 model?

Permit me to answer that based on my own experience... installed several months ago... both the 5" and 7" bars. No new cables or hydraulic lines are needed.

You may want to re-route the throttle cables behind the steering head with the 7"... they are tight in a full right... but I didn't and have had no problems.

keeping PE # plate

You might also check out another post on here. It was almost like the bars you are talking about but you can keep your number plate. just something to think about.Welcome to the new Helibars ! not sure if I did this right but that was the name of the thread. Maybe lamonster can fix it if it didnt work.

My original post was on Heli as well. The problem with this type of bar is that it only rises 1". Having a set back of 5" is great, but unfortunately a rise higher that 1" is needed to get the weight off your arms. Also, the width/span of the handlebar does not help a smaller people's hand/arm position. Kewlmetal bars are better in this regards...Joan

I'm glad you enjoyed the bars. I discovered after you left that my Corbin backrest had broken another bolt- the bolt that keeps it from sliding out of the seat. Very frustrating since Corbin just replaced the whole backrest for a bad hinge and bolt in Gatlinburg.

Definitely ask Matt about 9" pullbacks and cable routing. You should also inquire about compatibility with the BRP riser. There are options with the KM console to retain your PE number; albeit with a different PE plate.

Thanks for coming out!

I am about, at least thinking, buying the Corbin seats with the backrest. the problem you have, should it be something that I should be concerned about in my purchase?
Please advise...
thanks

It concerns me at least. I've been a Corbin advocate for a long time but I'm experiencing quality issues.

Don't use my feedback alone. Check with others and see if they've experienced similar issues. I won't abandon my Corbin setup anytime soon because it's sooo much better than the stock configuration but they're not getting a Christmas card from me now.

Here is a pic of a recent installation of the 7 inch bars on top of the BRP 1 inch riser. All the cables worked out fine. We have also greatly expanded the installation instructions with lots more pictures and tips and tricks to mke your install as easy as possible.

You can read through the new instructions here:

You also have to remember when comparing options, Kewlmetal is a Custom parts company, we focus as much on asthetics as we do on functionality. We have highly qualified Industrial designers, as well as engineers working our designs. Everything we design is modeled in 3D CAD, the same system that GM and Boeing use! Our design staff all has many years experience producing designs and parts for companies like GM and Boeing. You are getting all that talent focused on creating and producing some of the best quality and most innovative parts available in the motorcycle industry.

The longer you ride with them, the more you'll love the 7" bars! W (4'10") has them and they made all the difference! We also have the BRP riser block installed.

One other option here that is very worth talking about....The Kewlmetal center console allows the use of virtually ANY 7/8" handlebar. Several customers have been asking about different style bars, not for looks but for different hand positions and angles that they like from riding various motorcycles. Kewlmetal has so far put 2 sets of bars in production, that is by no means the only option for you. We will produce more variations of bars once we find out what people are asking for. This versatility is part of the design of the Kewlmetal system.

If you have any questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to call me, 623-298-7835

Matt
