• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I know we don't need any reason to just go and enjoy the ryde, but when I'm out there I tend to notice road/street signs. Perhaps there are interesting road/street signs where you ryde.

IMG_2517.jpg Have over 100 collected & growing:yes::ohyea: only 12 are state's visited welcome signs. Gotta get the rest:dontknow:

There are a couple of states where they think it is necessary to put "No Left Turn" signs at the end of freeway on-ramps. :shocked:

Really ?? Who exactly do they think needs to be told that ?? :dontknow:

That reminds me of the fella driving home from work on a miserable night, dark & stormy, & he could hardly see where he was going...

Then his wife rang on the cell to tell him to be careful, she'd just heard on the news that there was an idiot driving the wrong way down the freeway he generally travelled on to get home!!

His reply... "It's not just ONE freakin idiot, there are HUNDREDS of them!!" :shocked:

:thumbup:

I would like to add a couple more. From my neighborhood, we have

Helluva St. and Jehovh Jireh St.

My favorite from Ft. Wayne. Ind.-- Harry Balls Dr.-- right next to Johnny Appleseed's Park and Gravesite. It does not mean what you think it says--Harry Balls was an early Mayor of Ft. Wayne. First time I heard it, I about swallowed my tongue. :roflblack::roflblack:

Where I ride quite a bit, there's Lick Creek road, Greasy Creek road, Bear Wallow road, Grandma Barnes road, several other, I'll try to get Pictures sometime this week.

I can't post any pics of the signs, but apart from some weird sounding Aboriginal names, we've also got some pretty odd 'English' town names.... like:

Hell Hole Hate (not much to like there!);
Numbugga (bleedin cold almost all the time!);
Wantabuggery (not touching that one! :shocked:);
Gotabuggery (pronounced Go-ta-... you get the drift! :rolleyes:);
Dick's Knob (see the comment 2 up!);
Yorky's Knob (ditto)
Black Stump (there was one... once!); &
Beyond Black Stump... (it's a fair way beyond! :rolleyes:)

And then there's Five Bob Road (it cost just 5 Bob to make - about 50 cents - and they over-charged!!); Halfpenny Road (I assume a similar 'construction cost naming protocol', it was as bloody awful road!!); Broken Cart Track; & Broken Back Track (those last 2 did both!!) :shocked:

Aren't we an inventive species when we set our minds to it?! :thumbup:

I've seen this one a couple times in the last few weeks.

"Yield" at a railroad crossing?
No fooling-does someone really need to be told that?

I suspect that the State Law says; Thou shalt STOP at all railroad crossings where there are not control arms.
And those crossings may actually have a STOP sign.

And the "yield" places are low traffic spurs where a STOP is not usually necessary.

What should the sign say.......Do Not STOP ??? ;)

Ooooohhhh .... I know EXACTLY where you are! Live a stones throw (well, maybe several stones) away from that area .... HWY 59, Montague County, Texas. Nice road, we enjoy it often.

All the best .... Ann
