• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Risers/Pullbacks for RT?

Does anyone know of anything in the works for the RT? My lower back is such that I need to lean back. Have installed the Utopia an modified it to suit, but in that position my arms do not comfortably reach the bars.

If I were a machinist darned if I wouldn't fashion 4 bars that attach to the
4 handlebar screws and reach up and back about 6 in or so, with a short "handlebar" attached. Might look like heck, but if it made for comfortable cruising on open hwy, it would be worth it to me. Also, it would be easy to attach. :helpsmilie:

I've also been watching for RT bar options and things have been too silent... :gaah: I've actually been looking for just a little bit more angle to the pullback; nothing major, but an issue that I keep hoping gets addressed... I suppose that we'll have to keep hanging in there!

I talked to KewlMetal about this. They did some R&D and decided not to proceed with production of a riser for the RT.

There's very little call for a pullback on the RT, not like it was on the RS and it's a real pain to change out the bars on the RT and I don't see your average user doing that themselves.

RT Bar

Don't have a RT, but just thinking. Was it because of the cables? My thinking is why not just make a replacement handle bar that is longer, or that can be adjusted. Then again I guess that would be too expensive.

This would be a good thing for BRP to consider on a $30,000 machine.

Adjustable bar settings for height and reach. Also adjustable footpegs or floorboards. My 2009 Vulcan LTD came with real nice floorboards--standard.

I am running into some pain issues now when ryding my spyder.

I have had to take the 1" rubber pads off the footpegs and am sitting on 2 AK Leather, sheepskin butt pads--all because I can't sit for long periods of time without stretching my legs. I am now at a point where I have to get off the bike and stretch every 50 miles or so.

I was trying to avoid investing in some floorboards--but it may be coming to that or quit ryding spyder. I need something lower than the footpegs.

If anyone has a good idea--it would be great to hear what you are using.

Thanks, akspyderman

AKSpyderman....looks like we're SOL as far as the bars go. I don't see
any suitable extended footrests either. I know theres a set that mounts real low and sticks out beyond the lower air foils that might work for you. Expensive tho. I'd like somthing much higher as I have to be able to lean way back in a relaxing positiion to avoid back pain. Sort of your Barcalounger effect. :ohyea:

Because the Spyder is so low, there is a limit to how low you can put your feet. The alternative is to raise the seat or move the seat hump back a bit. A custom seat builer like Russell Day-Long may be your best bet.

The addition of Seal floorboards to my RTS allows me to "recline" somewhat against my Utopia backrest by letting my feet move forward. I'm suffering a lot less back pain and I no longer get tingling in my old legs. I tried my friend's Spyder with Kewlmetal floorboards, which look great, but they extend too far outward causing a lot of back pain in a short period of time. They forced my legs to be spread too far apart.

I have read that the ISCI floorboards can be lower by 1 1/2 inch and tilted down. I would think that would make the legs stretch somewhat. I was at the Adirondacks but no one there had them looks like I will just have to buy a set and try them myself. I need something to get some relief from my discomfort. Right now I just let my legs hang down in front of my foot pegs even for a minute for relief. I wish BRP would have thought of that in their new model but not yet.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I am going to do a little research and try to figure out which solution will work best for me.

Since I have to do this all by mail order, I want to make the right decision the first time.

I will let you know what I end up with.
