There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Risers on...

I bought the risers from Cruiser customizing . com $129 (found a $10 off coupon, covered shipping).

Nice stuff. No mods to the cables, used every bit of the slack in the 08 original stuff...

Interesting, I was thinking of taking mine off just to see how it feels, I bought mine with them
On. Would they be hard to put back to original.
Is there anything left over after you put yours on ?

my kit requires cutting the original bars. If yours is the same, you would have to replace the entire unit through the "Y" in the center. I wouldnt think it would be worth it for an experiment. On the other hand if you dont need the extra height...

Its mandatory for me, not only am I a slightly taller person, but I have a nasty back, and five surgeries between the left elbow and both shoulders. Soon the forward pegs go on to ease my rotten knees.

Sounds like you need an f3 cruiser.

:D They look pretty solid... :congrats:
Could you do us a favor, and take a picture from just a little bit further away? I'd like to see the appearance of the bars and riser up on top of their mooring position.

I suppose I could have left the original bars uncut, so it could be 'reverted', but that woulda looked pretty dopey.

I just finished a longish ride, about 140 miles (well long considering the layoff my medical situation required) and the riserrs made a tremendous diff...

i have the same type risers, was the first thing i did when i bought mine used. Why they have you in such a leaned over position is beyond me. Guess they wanted to make your back hurt like so you could feel like you were on a super sport bike. Stupid. i wish i could actually have gotten a little more or tilted them back a little more at least but the cables seem to be maxed out. Or put on RT bars would have been nice too. I actually had mine put on for me because i had just bought it (used) and didnt want to screw anything up. Great investment though if you dont like your back hurting and being all hunched over.

risers

Thanks for sharing pics and upgrades, a few months ago I bought my 2008 SM5 knowing I would want to get a butt load of farkle and so need risers but not sure which I need and are easier to install without modifications and cutting bars etc? :sour:

Any input is appreciated? I am taller and have long monkey arms and need them badly, been riding and my neck and wrists are so not liking the sport forward position.

Thanks

cut the bars

all the risers for your bike will require cutting the bars, except the riser block, which doesn't accomplish much. it's not that big of a deal. saw away.

I used a plumbers pipe cutter to do mine. No burrs, but it does flare the metal a bit, making the fit of the riser too tight. a bit of time with a file and it dressed down nicely. So, either way you will need to dress the metal a bit. Keep the bar ends from the originals to put back in the new cut pipes.

Hi RDWII,

Re: Keep the bar ends from the originals to put back in the new cut pipes.

Did your purchase of the risers not include new pipes with the location holes?

Just wondering,

Jerry Baumchen

the risers came with new pipes for the grips. Saving the bar end plugs is to close up the hole left by the cut.

Hi RDWII,

Re: the risers came with new pipes for the grips. Saving the bar end plugs is to close up the hole left by the cut.

My apologies. When you mentioned 'keep new bar ends' I thought that you meant the cutoff portion of the original pipes.

We're good; I hope,

Jerry Baumchen
