• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

risers installed...he heheheheh

Ride Forrest Ride!
Well after a day... the risers are installed. ( 4" ).
Had to rerouter some cable.
No clear instruction on the throttle side for the install.
In reference to the spacer on the stock bar... what to do with it on the riser side? :chat:when I used the spacer it would not allow the new bar to be completely inserted.
Any one need a spacer???????? I got one...

As to the riser bolts not fitting in the holes and allowing them to be tighten up.. bummer :cus:... I had to take them to a machine shop to fix the cap bolt holes.

I cut the Stock bar an additional 1" in length so that I may wish to install some other bar type accessorie.

After the hassel of droping the push pin from one of the boot holes, and looking for a week to find... well not a week, perhaps 1/2 hour or so, I acquired another at the dealer.

Took the :spyder:around the block with the new risers, and they seem to work ok... In fact I feel much more comfortable with the grips and don't have the lean and pressure on my arms and shoulders.

OH... the locktite package is still sealed as nothing was in the package, so I purchased some.

So, my addtitonal cost of 22 bucks for the rework and locktite.

Next project to install the 12V plug.

Ya'all have a great day.

SE5 ?

Is yours a SM5 or SE5 - If it's an SE5 did the drilled holes in the new bars line up OK for the Control unit ?

Need help with the reverse cable

I got my risers mostly installed but had a problem with the reverse cable. I split the assembly open to get the cable out completely because you have to route it through the hole in the riser.

Now I can't figure out how to get the reverse cable and lever back into the housing. Tried for a 1/2 hour and then the thunderstorms took the natural light, upped the humidity and brought out the skeeters.

Miller time! I'll sleep on it and read the forums instead.

If anyone has some pictures or recommendations on how to get it back into place, it would be appreciated.

Thanks, Tony

It only looks complicated, it really isn't. Once you put the cable through the riser hole, the metal end that reminds me of a 10 speed bike brake caliper fits in the slot nicely. The plastic piece that looks like a "C" with the "R" on it lays right in like a cradle. Put the "C" piece in against the back part, route the metal caliper like part of the brake cable in at the bottom. The piece will fit in nicely and you will know it is in right. The front and back pieces will go together and form a mold around the cable. I realize all my non technical terms may not help but this is the only way I can think to describe everything. I was worried at first too when I too mine apart. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to put back together and relatively dummy proof. You really can hurt it, just need to get everything in the right spot. I wish I had taken photos but I was so excited that I was doing this that I didn't take the time to get the camera out. Let us know how it goes.

That part also gave me the MOST trouble. I had a hard time getting enough slack! That part alone probably added an hour to the installation. I even called Deb for help because I was so frustrated! I waited until after I finished it, took a short ride and picked up a six pack of Labatts Blue Light to celebrate!

Whats a trip is they're all different as far as if you have to re-route cables or not. :dontknow::banghead:

I had trouble with the reverse cable too. And with my wonderful luck, I dropped the reverse switch while I was struggling with everything and it fell right down into the Spyder. I had to remove a little extra bodywork to fish it back out. All the other cables were fairly easy to move around.

:agree::agree::agree:

Somebody needs to get up to the factory and let these guys know that a key to a successful assembly line is standardization. They could probably increase efficiency quite a bit and eliminate problems if they followed some standardized work practices. nojoke

Well I did my risers from MM today seemed pretty straight forward but I work on cars for a living so maybe that helps. I just want to say it's another quality product, thanks to EV @ Lamonster for good color pics!
