• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

13 bars are interchangeable , replace them with a set of ST bars

Sorry , I would ask them why. May give BRP a call and ask them is there any reason your warranty would be canceled if you change them . If they tell you No which I would imagine they would ask them why your dealer would tell you that.

BTW welcome to the site :welcome:

That is Bull Stuff....

You need to find an honest dealer. I cut the handlebars off my Spyder and I've had several warranty services done. 2 for DPS replacement.

BRP couldn't care less what handlebars I had on my Spyder.

They have to prove that your modification caused or contributed to the part failure. What difference does it make what you steer with? None what-so-ever.

First, I'd find another dealer. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. They cannot cancel an entire warranty because you cut or change your handlebars.

To answer your question, Bill has you covered, to get bar risers on the 13'+ your looking at swapping either ST or RT bars.

Really..!!!

seems the dealers tell you anything you do without them will cancel your warranty. Agree with Ron and swapping the bars will help you...and they are both brp bars...:roflblack:

What you dealer suggest is illegal under federal law.... if they can prove that a modification causes a specific failure then they can deny a claim. they can not however void an entire warranty.. your dealer is either stupid or a liar....

In 1975, Congress passed the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act which, amongst other things, prevented the manufacturer from cancelling a warranty of a product if the purchaser of the product performs their own maintenance or installs after market or refurbished parts, unless that maintenance or parts caused the warrantied part to fail.

That said, if installing handlebar risers causes damage to cables or other components, you might be on the hook for repairs. On the other hand, if the rear tail light breaks and falls off during the warranty period, BRP should make repairs under the warranty. If the dealer refuses, BRP should be notified and another dealer found.

Also, if there is a dispute on a claim, BRP could 'slow walk' the process and keep the Spyder from being repaired under warranty until the dispute is resolved. In the meantime, you may not be riding and may still paying the monthly payment, if financed.

I agree with everything said here. My dealer installed after market 4" risers to my Spyder for me and has performed warranty service since then. Your dealer is either ignorant or full of crap.:doorag:

It appears that the BS meter is running on high at your dealer.

In the early days (2008/2009) my dealer installed a 3" riser that he manufactured himself. I had these on both my 2008 and 2009 GS/RS models. No warranty issues or mechanical problems with the set up, whatsoever. PS--he is not making them any more, but he and I had the prototypes.
