• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just picked up TJSpyder riser block he got from Spyder City and am kind of disappointed.
1st:Riser was shipped loose with the bolts and washers which scratched what I assume was their attempt at painting it.
2nd:The bolts holes aren't centered which makes the riser look twisted and makes the handle bars be off.
3rd:You would think that for what was paid for it they would at least smooth out the mill marks.
4th:They took his money and lost his order.It took several calls to correct the problem.Also had several calls that weren't returned by their internet department.
I am not one to complain unless I feel I am justified.Oh well,I guess I'll just have to make it work.
 
The high mileage may have been me. Minor data problem with the way I set up my starting point on Fuelly. What you see now is the real thing. Comparing with others that are now on the website, I am on the higher end -- even with the 34.8. Only a couple of others higher with realistic numbers. I am a fairly conservative ryder.

That stinks. Some things you could live with the holes being off but not on this.

10-4 Not only arethe holes drilled off center the groove is milled about an 1/8 inch crooked as well. Attempted to fit it to the stock riser and it doesn't sit right.

Was hoping it was an "easy" solution versus cutting the bars etc. or using something hideous like the Heli.

Not that it helps you, but another happy HeliBar user here.

FWIW, when you are ryding you look at the road not your handlebars. I see my Spyder as absolutely normal. I have to look hard to see the offset riser. It just "is". Doesn't bother me at all.

I really didn't want to cut the bars either.
 
True true on the Heli, but $370. Guess you get what you pay for... (thought I'd say it before someone else did) :-)


As for this looking hideous it doesn't really show so doesn't matter much what it looks like. I was going to paint it gloss black to match the handle bar cover though.

It's going back to the dealer and hopefully they don't give me a hard time. back to the drawing board.

I had none of these issues with same part bought 2 months ago... perhaps QA is going downhill or too many orders are taxing his ability to produce/ship the same quality as in the beginning.

I'd suggest calling and talking to him about the issues. May not help you right now, but perhaps will take care of your problems and ward off the possibility of others getting the same probs in the future?

I am (as others have also mentioned) 100% happy with mine.
 
I have installed the 2 inch riser block on the:spyder:and it fitted very well everything lined up correctly and I am very happy with the results, ring Ron and tell him your problem and he will fix the problem.

My dealer told me about these a couple of months ago, my next day off I headed out to get a set and he was out. He did have a set installed on a bike so I was able to see what they look like. The fit and finish turned me off they didn't even fit the steering head. I figure I can build better when I find the time, maybe a winter project.
 
May be an uneven quality issue, but I also ordered mine about a month ago. My dealer installed it as part of the delivery options, and it was without any issue whatever. All of my communications with the Spyder City/RT Sales folks have been great, and the part was as advertised.

As you received a defective one, I'd ask them to replace it. It does offer good value for the money, when properly manufactured.

Close to 35 still is great! I'm playing around with my JB and getting closer to 32mpg...I'm happy with that...Lamont gets 36-38...he must be a magician!...that's amazing on this bike!
 
Heli Risers

I have a 2009 Canam Spyder. I am interested in the Heli Risers for the Can Am Spyder, Product ID HR08016. Will this mod change how the bike handles. Will the handle bars pendulum rather than pivot? I understand it uses the stock handle bars.
$370 plus instulation is not pocket change. I want to be sure this is a good quality product that is not going to screw up the handling or the steering of the bike before I spend that kind of money.
Does anyone have them installed on their spyder? How do you like them? How does the bike steer? Did it change the handling/cornering?

I can certainly recommend the HeliBar riser. It does not do anything weird to handling -- it does seem to improve it. And comfort do die for compared to the stock setup. Very much worth the price.
 
The "rudder steering" or pendulum as you call it...whatever it is, is an illusion. If you draw a point from the center of the steering head to the two handlebar grips with the HeliBar riser, you get a ^ shape the same as you would on a set of bars with longer reaching grips toward the driver.

The HB brings the handlebars up and back towards the driver. The one drawback of the HB is that the distance up and back is fixed. With the ESI risers you can rotate them back towards you to your liking to a point. I gather that the clutch resevoir needs to be close to vertical. So there is a limit just how far back you can rotate the bars.

The other big differences is that with the HB riser the original key location is moved to the HB riser. The handlebars are "offset" from the steering head. The kit comes with a circular piece to plug up the original key hole.
Also, the handlebars ends are cut off at about 8" to get the riser in place with the ESI risers. Lots of pics of ESI risers on site. So you have to remove the grips carefully or get new grips with the ESI riser. The entire handlebar unit is moved and remounted with the HB so no grip removal.

I think they both do pretty much the same thing. It's a matter of looks and personal choice which one you do. Some hate the look of the HB set up. I don't like the look of ESI. Different strokes for different folks. It's great that these aftermarket choices exist.
