• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Right leg gets hot!

Questions

2010 RS-S. Been riding the last few days and even in the cool of the morning my right leg gets pretty warm. I've looked at the exhaust wrapping threads and am considering it, but not sure that will resolve the problem. Was wondering if there are other solutions folks have found.

You can remove the splash guard, and install the air management piece that Spyderpops sells. This will help keep the hot air from blowing on your leg. Also if you have the stock exhaust you might need new gaskets.

The first thing you should check is to see if the exhaust gaskets need to be replaced. This is likely the cause especially if the heat issue is a new thing.

No solution for ya buddy. It is part of owning a Spyder that has the 998 engine. You will feel the heat on 90 and above days and in stop and go traffic. No way out of that one. I owned a 2012 RS and tried it all.

have a 2011 RSS. Heat is not an issue for me. I think yours may be an exhaust leak. Replace the stock pipe with a Yoshimura and replace the gaskets. Problem solved.

I also have a 2011 RSS and have a bad heat problem on the right leg. I have just ordered the heat management system to try and solve the problem. Will let you know how I make after I install.

Hi Clary,

Re: Will let you know how I make after I install.

It helped a bunch in my case; not 100% cold but much more tolerable.

Keep us posted on your experience,

Leaky exhaust gaskets will be felt up higher on the leg, since the gasket location is kind of up and centered on the bike. Heat management kit from Spyderpops did help a fair bit. So do riding boots and pants vs shorts & sneakers.

Maybe I have no feeling in my right leg??

Sure I notice an elevated temperature when sitting still and the cooling fan is running. But that is to be expected and I can live with it. But then, I don't wear shorts and flip-flops while riding, either. (Ride a big-bore air cooled motorcycle if you want to feel some heat while sitting still) It is not an issue for me and I don't even think about it when I am riding down the road.

Stand beside your car when it is running on a hot day. You can certainly feel the heat coming from under the vehicle. It is called "cooling the engine". If you need cool air, you need to get into the car and turn on the air conditioning system.

:agree:
But everybody has a different tolerance level for heat...
I was never bothered by any heat problems with my 2010 RT; yet I'd read stories about folks swearing that their flip-flops are melting, and they've got blisters below where their shorts covered them.
I think that a lot of this has to do with the nature of the riding conditions. If you're constantly caught in "Stop & Go" traffic: you will feel more heat than someone who rides in open country, and rarely sees traffic.

heat issue

I have a 2009 Can Am RS/GS and I noticed that the heat issue is due to the fan blowing the hot air at your foot. I coverd the opening in front of the brake peddle and I installed a custom air scoop over the side opening. With the scoop it created a little tornado that lets cool air in and hot air out. You will feel a little heat but since the opening is covered your wont feel as much of it.

I've taken off the splash pans, wrapped the exhaust, put on Spyderpops heat management system, and I rarely have heat issues with my right leg. I actually get more on my left foot now from the oil radiator.
