• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Riding with Slingshots

If money, and parking space wasn't a consideration; I'd have one! :2thumbs:

I briefly gave it a thought but bought my Challenger instead. And after owning this car for four weeks I will guarantee you that I (and I mean I, not anyone else) could not possibly have more fun with a SS than I do with that RT. Coming from the muscle car era, the fun factor is off the charts. Any bets I get a speeding ticket by the end of the summer?

Like I said in another thread, I can't afford all the toys so I pick and choose what works best for me. I truly have no use for a SS.

Ivor followed us in his Slingshot last December when we had our "Spyder Cruise Trip", to Cozumel. At that time we had ridden from Ft. Liqourdale down to Key West. There was no problem at all and Ivor did an excellent job staying with the group.

We all had a great time.

Chris

We looked at the SlingShot before we bought the Spyder. For us being older, bad backs and all.....getting out of it was hard on us, it sits low also. With the Spyder I can step on it and step off of it.

As far as helmet; that will depend on your State law (and the State you are traveling through) In Oregon (as an example) it is classified and licensed as a motorcycle...thus you will need the proper license endorsement and a helmet to operate it on the roadways.

it is a good looking machine though !

FYI A person from the Spyder Riders of America - Inland Empire spotted you guys up near Grisly Cafe here in wrightwood.

They had asked who it was on the Facebook pages for SRA.

I assume your not part of any SRA group in the LA area?

Bob

If this was on Sunday around 3pm, it was us!

They say that the Charger Hellcat is THE ONE to have! The longer wheelbase can put down more of that beloved horsepower to the pavement!

i got the wave from a ss on sat. when i was pulling out of the gas station, caught up at the red light 50' away & we talked
for a minute. no rivalry both looking at each others ride, his was 24 hours old. he did say he thinks it is too low.

That may be true, but I am just not into four door muscle cars. If Fiat has any foresight they may produce a Charger coupe. Build it and they will come.

And as you know Bob, my reasons for the Challenger were sentimental. If I would have bought based on my favorite auto maker I would have been all over the Mustang.

I went to see one in a showroom near here. It did seem very wide & I had difficulty getting in & out.

Will try one out one day if they ever have demos available.

I agree with you Cruzr Joe - sticking with my RT Limited.
Wonder what is going to happen next year when the Elio hits the road?? Their approach has been to go the various state Legislatures and get the laws changed for the Elio - they call it an autocycle - as in no helmet????
BIG F
I don't believe the Elio will ever make it into production. If it does it will cost much more than what they have advertised ($6800). In any case the Elio is nothing more than a very small commuter car that happens to have 3 wheels. It is not fast and from the videos I don't think it is any more maneuverable than a regular compact car. So - apples and oranges.

:D They did... :2thumbs:

For all intents and purposes; the Challenger IS a Charger Coupe... the same chassis and bodywork, on a shortened chassis... :D

You bought EXACTLY the right car! :ohyea: :D

Let me post a motorcycle photo so the other forum members will stop puking on their keyboard looking at that Dodge car ....... :coffee:

One thing I heard from some Slingshot owners here in CA is it is hot behind the windshield with helmets on!
I guess the air flow into the cockpit is not great.

So here is where I have to differ with you. I love my friend's Slingshot, so I'm not bashing it at all. I get it, and I get why some people will prefer it over a Spyder (although I'm not one of them). No question about it, they rock.

That said, I just can't see a Slingshot as a motorcycle. It is wide like a car, you have a steering wheel, you sit in it with a side-by-side passenger, and it looks like a car (as much as it looks like anything). The layout, except for the third wheel, is absolutely car-like. You shift with a stick shift, and there is an accelerator instead of a throttle. Yes, I know that the lack of safety features and the third wheel necessitate a helmet, but it really looks and acts like a very cool sports car or a race car. You wear helmets and protective gear in race cars as well; that doesn't make them motorcycles.

I know that Spyders are controversial under the motorcycle moniker, but if a Harley or Goldwing trike is a motorcycle, then a Spyder certainly is as well. Can-Am just did a better job of it.

That's a killer ride you have, but it isn't a motorcycle.
