rider to passenger intercom recomendations

My husband I use the Scala Rider Q2 by Cardo. The Q2 is bike to bike but also works rider to passenger and is wireless. It attaches to any helmet. It has a battery life of approximately 10 hours if you keep it constantly on, longer if you only turn it on (voice activated) when you want to talk. It is blue tooth so we can use our cell phones. Recharges in 2-4 hours.

I can't remember what we paid but it seemed like with both headsets, it was under $200.

We don't leave home without them.

:agree: The Q2 has worked great for me. The Bluetooth for the phone, rider-to-rider, and Bluetooth for my Zumo 550 make it the best choice for me. I can even turn on the FM radio if I want to.

I also have the scala q2 dual set wireless.

Works great. My wife and I use it when we ride. I havent tried the phone with it or music but for open communication its great. Makes trips with passenger so much better.

I dont know why anyone would want a wire? It could not be more simple. When you order the dual set they automatically come paired with one another, so its ready to go out of the box with a charge. I paid around 225 or so on ebay around xmas time.

My wife and I have used the Starcom1 intercoms for years. This is a wired unit, and very versatile. Reasonably expensive, but well worth it, IMO. Available in the US at Spoiled Biker, or direct from England. The noise reduction and VOX are the best I have encountered, including Autocom. I have the standard Starcom1 unit under the seat on my BMW, but the smaller Starcom1 Advanced fit under the dash on Nancy's Spyder better. That was a PIA installation, especially with a permanent helmet connection added under the seat, but it could have been done more simply, or could have even been made portable. The complexity of the features you desire enter into the equation as far as installation goes. adding an MP3 player (a must), bike-to-bike radios, a cell phone, a GPS, or a combination of them will require routing more wires to those devices.

Communication

RKA Luggage has a top of the line tankbag for the Spyder that can include FRS, CB, GPS, XM, and cellphone. The RKA system can be bluetoothed so that there are no wires from the tankbag to the helmets. RKA will receive my Arai helmet tomorrow for installation. I will ride my Spyder up to Windsor, CA in the middle of May for the complete installation. Since I have several motorcycles, the beauty of their system is that the tankbag can be moved from bike to bike. All you need on each bike is the power loom and appropriate aerial(s). Then all you have to do is move the tankbag to a different bike and take off.
