Ride in Vermont yesterday in the NEK

What started out as a rainy morning changed over to be a sunny day with just a few clouds in the sky and a great day to ride. Myself and Deanna took a tour through the lake region in the North East Kingdom (NEK), Vermont's northern gem. We had a fun day in some scenic areas, followed by dinner at the Eastside Restaurant on the waterfront of Lake Memphremagog in Newport. This was a nice place to relax after a long day's ride. We did run into a rain storm after we headed out after dinner, but it didn't last long and the rest of our return trip was good. Here are some pics that we took on our trip. Enjoy!

Have a couple of days planned for NEK riding in late Aug. Been through NEK before but never stopped to smell the roses so to speak. Hope to get some great riding in and see the natural beauty of the area.

That's really some great scenery! I've driven through the southern part of Vermont and New Hampshire in a car. Hope to ride our Spyder there someday!

I love to ride in Vermont... not to far from my part of Massachusetts. But you were right about yesterday. We were at an event at a local dealership and there was a big difference in weather from AM to PM!

nice pics. I am riding to ME, Bay of Fundy, NH, VT starting July 4. Will be in VT that next week. Plan on visiting Cornish / Windsor covered bridge and Mt Mansfield. Deanna talked about Hwy 100 I saw in a post before. How is the Hwy 100 from Mt M south on Hwy 107 to 100, then wayyyy south to state line? Oh, by the way, I'm from the county in Ohio that built the longest covered bridge in nation to surpass Cornish / Windsor bridge, sorry!!! Moved to NC in 1987

Rte 100 is generally very good from the MT M area down South. Deanna, could probably tell you more about Rt 107. I don't go down in that area much at all. I live in the northern part of VT.

Hwy 107 is a decent road to travel on. Also, Route 100 is also a good road to travel on. There is a "download app for the road conditions @ 511VT.com( this is a hands-free 511 mobile app @ 511VT.com).

You need to come back

You guys will have to come back, you missed the best view of Lake Memphremagog. From where you got gas, at the ShortStop on the Derby Rd., head toward Newport, then turn right onto Shattuck Hill Rd. at the second traffic light. Go about 1/2 a mile and there is a great view looking down the lake into Canada. It is where my avatar picture was taken.

Looking forward to our 2 weeks

We will be going to Graniteville VT in about 2 weeks to do some riding. Where is this NEK area in regard to there? Or can you give me some idea of the area.
