• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Reverse light comes on when going 80 +

There are issues that do not throw codes...something these modern techs sometimes fail to understand.

:agree:100%.

It is just as bad in aviation. One guy I work with is convinced the codes are right all the time and if it doesn't give a code then it is something else bad. It seems troubleshooting is becoming a lost art. All the modern gizmo's and self diagnostic systems in the world can't beat a multi-meter and sound mechanical knowledge.

Tech told me all the updates are done and they can’t do anything else. I was thinking about e-mailing Carols to see what should I do as I have no aftermarket stuff on it I even took out HID lights just in case it had issues with those.

Thanks ravi

Well, this is just stupidity. If the Spyder does not run correctly then there certainly IS something else they can do. They can FIX IT!

It is impossible to trouble-shoot your dealership/mechanic from my vantage point but I would lean towards incompetence. I find this is the most common issue and the most difficult to correct.

And I hate it when the machine takes the blame for human inability.

One thing I notice now when the bike is idle and I turn the handle the head lights dim that make me believe it might be charging issue. Can some one else please try it see if it happens on all spyders just start you bike wait until it worms up then turn you handle see if lights dim.

Thanks
Ravi

Are you sure they actually dim? The Spyder has projection lenses, so they don't shine much to the sides. This makes them appear to others to dim, or even disappear, as the spyder turns, goes over bumps, or if the headlights are aligned badly.

If there is actual dimming under these conditions, and you have no large electrical draw, like heated gear, this is another symptom that should be reported to your tech. Hope you can pound it through his thick skull. Sorry we can't help you further. It is difficult to troubleshoot problems over the Internet.

Truer words were never spoken. I marvel at the diagnostic systems and what they can monitor, but they don't have all the answers. Everybody seems to forget the basics of air, fuel, and spark. Unfortunately, like the systems engineers that think every mechanical problem can be resolved with software, there are fewer and fewer of us that can listen, and look, and decide what is wrong, anymore. When we die, what will be left?

YES they do dim when i'm looking @ them and turn the handle they dim nothing else is on no heated gear or fog lights just basic spyder stuff not even the hand brake.

Thanks
Ravi

It's your power steering motor activating and drawing juice.....there's a 40 amp fuse protecting it so it uses a fair bit of power.

And in the electrical/avionics world, power, ground, and the last place someone worked.:roflblack:

I wonder what will be left as well.

My dad had and my one brother has already given up....if it was/is a newer vehicle, they took/take it to the shop. I go buy the diagnostic computers so I can get a general direction, but invariably I wind up resorting to a multi-meter, a wiring diagram or flow chart, and common sense.

......and experience, a fast disappearing commodity. There is no substitute for time in the field.
