There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. accually I haven't been caught doing 80+ yet ,,,, :2thumbs:

Sound like the GPS to me too and yes, it should be covered under warranty or might even be part of the last recall which would include your 2008 Spyder.

thanks guys i'll take in tomorrow spouse to snow here so i'll see how it does in snow. i hope it;s quick fix i need my Spyder i don;t think i can give up anytime soon.

thanks again

As another new owner, I'm curious. Does the GPS actually have an impact on the running parameters in the computer?? I understand the possibilty of it triggering the light, but to make it also run a little erratic seems odd.

Mine never did it while moving. I turned it on one time and the neutral light was on, the reverse light was blinking and it was indicating I was in 8th gear.:roflblack:

My dealer told me it would cause all kinds of flaky things to happen. Evidently the computer uses it for mapping all kinds of parameters. Mine locked in some faults so when I got the steering update, he caught it. Currently waiting on the part to get in.

Welcome to the Spyder forum. :)

Hello Ravi,
1st, we're glad you're here. 2nd, you will not find anyone in this forum badmouthing or talking smack to another. Basically just doesn't happen in here. I did get a little complaint from a couple of people regarding selling my '66' Buick on the 4sale by owner section on this forum a while back but that finally ended.
Anyway, the one thing I wanted to mention to you is some spyders are having a problem with losing their license plate (black cover) with the red reflector. You may want to do something with the 1 single small screw holding it on before it vibrates off. If you loose this cheap little piece of plastic, it will cost you over $50 for the part. Here's the link regarding my rant. :)

welcome

Your dealer may have to order a new GPS for your Spyder, and if they do you should still be able to ryde while you wait for it.

Hey Guys So finally got my GPS replaced yesterday the dealer Sad it had 13 codes but did not tell what they ware. I asked tech about surging issue and trying to maintain any speed in any gear. He sad nothing is wrong it’s just winter GAS. I think it’s bunch of BS. I been ridding bikes in winter thru snow , for the past 10 years in VA never had this issue with another bikes. They also sad since no codes showing up they can’t do anything about it. So @ this point what should I do.

Thanks
Ravi

Again thanks for all your Help

Make sure they have done the ECM (engine performance) update that came out after the steering recall update. That addresses surging issues. The lack of codes thing and the winter gas story are just cover ups for an inexperienced tech. He should call BRP and ask for help. There are issues that do not throw codes...something these modern techs sometimes fail to understand. BTW, if you have done any mods such as aftermarket exhaust or intake, filter, etc., you could indeed be lean with the heavier winter air and winter fuel formulations (or too much ethanol). In that case you may have to add a Juicebox to compensate.

Tech told me all the updates are done and they can’t do anything else. I was thinking about e-mailing Carols to see what should I do as I have no aftermarket stuff on it I even took out HID lights just in case it had issues with those.

Thanks ravi

Could be a bad coil wire, coil, or just a bad spark plug. There arte other possibilities, too, these are just the most common. This stuff probably won't show on a computer diagnostic, especially if it is intermittent or weak. Your tech has an obligation. Ride their demo and compare. If it is different, ask him why, and insist that he make it run equally as well. If he can't tell the difference, and you can, you need a new tech. Like I said, he can call BRP with the symptoms and get some help troubleshooting it after he describes the symptoms, and what he has done so far to find and fix the problem. BTW, if you got some bad gas, or have water in the gas, it could act up. Put some Iso-Heet through it and see if it clears up.

I rode their Demo they can’t compare because they have lots aftermarket stuff installed. Gas in not a issue because I tried ISO head already. I think if doesn’t get fix by summer I’m gona switch back to my Kawasaki C14 and sell this dam thing . I m glade I still have C14 to go back to. does anyone have Carlos phone no i tryied calling 715-848-4957 OR 819-566-3366 naver got any Ans they are to busy to Ans calls

VA has a motorcycle lemon law. I would repeatedly take it back for repairs. After 3 unsuccessful attempts, you can take legal action. Perhaps if they know that, they will do better. If not, by law they must compensate you. Another alternative is to try another dealer.
