• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Resurrection...looking for Goldwing quiet...

I spent quite some time wading thru searched threads. Every time I thought I found something, the thread died.

So, is it possible, if so how, can I drop the muffler/exhaust volume on my RT. Not expecting Goldwing whisper but close would be nice.

So the factory is not low enough? I wonder if the new Yosh would do the trick for you?

Just me now, But if the stock muffler is too loud, Maybe you should check your ''Y'' gaskets.:dontknow:

Im with you

I wear plugs every ryde, but they dont make them large enough for Teddy. I'd also like to find a deeper tone but quieter muffler for Teddys new Red Sled RT-S, as I can't stand the stock sewing machine sound. The wind noise and tunes are bad enough on the little guy, so if I could help lesson the noise from the muffler, I think he'd be a bit more happier than he already is

I'll be following along to see if anything comes of this thread as well :2thumbs:

Quiet pipes

I realize that this isn't the usual request, but I would also be interested in a "whisper quiet" sound on my Spyder ... the way it sounds with my full-face helmet and earplugs. Otherwise, between the muffler, road noise, and wind, the noise is overwhelming and unpleasant without earplugs.

It was hard to compare this muffler from Lamonster's post to the stock muffler as far as loudness.

"Deeper tone" and "quieter muffler", isn't that an oxymoron? :dontknow: Most noise for unprotected ears, especially without a helmet, comes from wind noise. Without floppy ears, Teddy is gonna have some difficulty.

Looking forward to MV. Perhaps one of the vendors will have an answer. If not, we're already planning on Wingding 2011 in Knoxville, perhaps there.

noise...

I just retired my Scorpian Exo 900 in favor of a Schuberth C3. WOW, what a difference! No more annoying whine from passing vehicle tires, MUCH less wind noise, and now I can actually hear myself think. :2thumbs:

I may be off my rocker here... But I have more noise from my engine than I do the factory exhaust... I very much understand the desire to get whisper quiet. I did it to a few vehicles in my life. On bikes though it is a lot harder than a vehicle as the vehicles have panels we can mount sound deadening materials to once we silence the mufflers... Of course these Spyders have lots of Tupperware so I see no reason for this to be an issue at all...

I wonder if there is a packing material in the factory exhaust and it is worn out? :dontknow:

Regardless... You will be able to get a quieter exhaust at some point I am certain. Even if that means working with a professional exhaust person and they customize some tips for the factory exhaust. My only concern with that is the reduction of back-pressure and the effects it would have on the computer causing a fight or power/fuel mileage to suffer. :doorag::spyder2:

BTW... One tip I used for a few ATV's I wanted to quiet down. I had longer tips made for the Yosh pipes I ran. The factory go into the muffler about two inches, I went 4.5" in and dropped the DB's by a very noticeable value. It did drop the performance a bit as well, but I countered that with a high performance CDI Box...

C3

I also use the schuberth C3, and when you close the face shield all the way it is very quiet. They also have a built in bluetooth set up which i will add shortly.

The sun visor is excellent in this helmet also....

For you riders using the Schuberth C3, how well does it do cutting down the wind noise? That is a huge problem for me. It is thunderous around the base of my helmet, and I am pretty desperate to find a solution. I don't mind paying for that helmet if it works the way they say it does. They have a demo on their site that compares what wind sound is like in their helmet compared to others. Pretty amazing if it's accurate.

3rd, I think thats where the schuberth excels....plus that collare comes out for the bluetooth set up. They are a tight fitting helmet....so far i think my head is adapting to the helmet instead of the helmet to my head...:gaah:

I started with an xl, revzilla people fitted me with a L.....They no more than i do...i guess

Not to hijack this thread, but where are the C3's available from? I've a C2 and will want a C3 but I didn't think Schuberth had a North American distributor.

Thanks,
Rod.
