• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Response to survey

Do not like this post!

I completed a survey regarding the Can Am Spyder today. I hope to have one before long. I answered the questions as best I could. I did not hesitate to praise this innovative product. At the same time I honestly answered questions about quality, reliability, and perceived trust in the company. The Spyder is improving in quality, but it has a ways to go to earn trust as a fault free platform. Don't beat me up for expressing my opinion. I appreciate the many Spyder owners who have little or no problems for sure. However it still troubles me to read of someone who drops $30000 for an RT limited only to have catastrophic failure within a short period of time, then get the run around. I will add that the listing of the good dealers is a good thing. The 2013 model year brings much anticipation and excitement. Let's hope it is a banner year.

I hit the like button before I fully read this post...I do not like people posting such results if they do not own or have intimate personal knowledge of a product. It is a disservice to real owners and makes the poster look like a fool!:bowdown:smoky

I wonder why he got a survey in the first place? :dontknow:

He is; of course, entitled to his opinion... I hope that he continues to like the Spyders enough that he'll have one in his sights when he does pull the trigger...

Bob, I love the Spyder and love this forum. I can take getting beat up. My apologies for causing trouble. I wish no one disrespect. I fully intend to buy a Spyder. I have some personal issues to deal with first. I have no idea why I got a survey in the first place. It called out Can AM and BRP specifiically, but it was not from BRP. It was some kind of marketing survey. :) :opps:

Awww heck; Nobody got their feathers too ruffled... :D I call it "No harm; no foul..."
I think that I misunderstood you; my impression was that the survey came from "BURP"... My bad! :opps:

:agree: communication on the internet can be misinterpreted. I know I didn't believe you meant any disrespect. I was just curious how one can offer honest info on any product without owning that product. Dale

Hope you had Teddy help you fill out the survey. He is a senior member and has more spYder miles under his well - collar. :yikes: :yikes:

I have a picture of Dave and Teddy taken at ASK in Grove City Ohio when he had his black 2010 RT. They were having a Spyder Nite. Also there is one of me checking out a red RT-S

If they were asking for opinions... :dontknow:
We haven't seen the survey; so how can we worry about what was said when we dont' know what was asked? :dontknow:

I got the same survey, and it does ask questions pertaining to buying a Spyder, or owning one.

"
The problem with communicating on the internet is that things can be easily misinterpreted. I openly admit that I do not own a Spyder simply because it is not in the cards for me right now for a number of reasons. Could I buy one outright, yes. I am not trying to alienate myself from this forum. It just troubles me greatly that buying one is a gamble. "

I understand your point of view. Keep in mind that the Internet or even this great Forum is not a complete or statistical sample of all Spyder owners. Current guesstimate is that around 50,000 to 60,000 Spyder Roadsters of all type and all years have been sold worldwide. There are just about a little less than 10,000 members of the Forum with about (my guess) 1,500 to 2,000 sometime participants with a hard core group of posters of around 500. Folks that are happy with their ride are riding for the most part. Posters are either those with issues or those who like to help or just like to talk about their favorite form of transport. When you look at the problem bikes they are usually early in the model year, with exceptions of course.

Yes buying any electro-mechanical devise is a gamble but I truly believe that the odds are greatly in favor of you getting a good working fun to ride Spyder. If the odds are against you there is always the warrantee. I'm 63 I don't want to wait until I'm too old to ride to wait for the perfect bike because after riding motorcycles for the last 40 years I have found they don't exist and most likely never will. You make your choices and take your chances, that's life!

Verry well said at 58 years young and back ailments the spyder fits the bill Perfectly!

I just took the survey today (got it in the mail a couple of days ago) and all of the specific questions about the Spyder could only be answered if one owned one...at least on my survey. I suppose the survey could have gone in a different direction with different answers...

I have no idea why I got the survey in that I don't own one yet. I tried to answer the survey as best I could from information I gathered from this forum. I fully agree I cannot give a correct evaluation without being an owner. Most of my answers came from observations both good and bad taken from this forum and from talking to owners with which I came in contact.
