• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Resetting the computer - Reset the Spyder

Hi everyone.
I've seen this mentioned in a few posts now, but not sure of the exact details of the procedure...

1. What is the procedure for 'Restting the computer'? Details???

2. Why/when is this mode required to be done? What function does it provide?

3. How does one know the procedure has been completed - any indication from the Spyder or on the Cluster that it is now completed?

Thanks,
cheers.

There should be nothing that you cannot accomplish by turning the key on and off three times, to clear a past code and limp mode. If the problem remains, you need to see your dealer anyway. Either limp home or call for the flatbed. Theoretically, you can clear the computer (in part) by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. I would caution against this if you are having problems, since it clears out any "occurred" codes, making troubleshooting by the dealer and BUDS harder, by wiping out the record of the recorded codes and their sequence. There has been talk of doing this to clear the ECM mapping, but there is much controversy over whether it actually does anything. My opinion is that idling for 15 minutes will provide the same benefit, if any, filling the table with new data. I wouldn't give it another thought. Other opinions may well vary.
