There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rescinding My 2012 Color Opinion

IMHO the Phantom Spyder is still the coolest Spyder. That's why it was an option kit for over $1K. You all may like your gaudy colors and graphics but don't call a Phantom a base coat Spyder. Gaudy colors and graphics are not the new black. :roflblack:

Also, it is not hard to take care of. The matte black pieces clean easily with just about anything and really bad dirt washes away with a little soap and water. Unlike gloss black the matte does not water spot much.

Well. At least I didn't call names.

And for the record... I'll take my GAUDY American Flag any day of the week. It's my salute to the troops! :)

(Let's throw some water on the flames here...)
Do we all agree that a Spyder of pretty near ANY color beats not having one at all??

:agree::agree::agree: and if you don't like it... it's not that dificult to paint. If you can't... just take a color close to your choice and rYde!!

Point taken but I didn't call anyone elses choices 'crap.'

Matte is the color you see in movies chosen for the military. Stealth. Of course I have a Dark Knight riding suit. :roflblack:. So clearly I am insane. :roflblack:

And choosing mods is hard enough. Give me too many color choices and I'll be more insane. :roflblack:

Can't fault any of the cool new decal bikes. Figure if I ever get tired of matte that will be the way to go.

The first time I saw a matte finish was when they were doing them on the old cars when they'd sport them up for shows. I thought it was odd but neat. Then I thought about the kid with the greasy hand from eating McDonald's french fries. :yikes: Eversince I can't imagine matte on anything I own and stear my son clear of the Phantom bikes. :) Not to mention... I live in bug hell. :gaah:

:agree:

Orange has never been a big fave of mine but THIS IS COOL!!!!

OMG! We leave town for a few weeks and you are no longer salivating over the 2012 green bike. :roflblack: I suppose the sky will be falling tomorrow, or something. :gaah:The matte black is really not that hard to keep clean, if you have the right stuff. :ohyea:Greetings to Holly.

He DOES seem a bit fickle; doesn't he?? What's up with this??? :dontknow:
Maybe he's not trading because Holly has secretly talked him into the RT of her dreams and he's been sworn to secrecy!

Naw....... After seeing it in person, it did not give me the feeling like a 25 yr old model would wanting to buy me a drink. I like it, but I don't love it. :doorag:

I have a question that I am sure is probably stupid. My girlfriend and I went and saw the 2012 RT that is white and it has the "sparklie" underish coat? (I am paint challenged). I am trying to find out more about these kind of colors, and what is making them so popular and all over the car industry.

Due to my 100% lack of paint knowledge, I have decided to come here and hopefully get less mocked at my ignorance on the topic. Is it an undercoat or an overcoat? Is it just part of the paint? Does it make the paint last longer, or help with sun damage?

Are most paint shops gonna be hip with these colors?

I am not planning on making any changes until after I have been to Spyderfest but I like to be educated, so I am here seeking knowledge! I am trying to understand what all will assist in helping my 09 GS change colors or design if I choose to do so in the future!

Thanks in advance for the awesome help, and sorry if I thread jack a little, but seemed to be in this arena of topic :p

Now I've actually not drooled over a White RT Limited yet... :opps:
If you're referring to the metalflake that gives the sparkle; I believe that's in the paint...
This has been around for a pretty long time,so I'd imagine that any paint shop could tell you all about exactly what it takes to lay it on, or more improtantly; match it!
My Missus and I once owned a 985 buick that had a gold metalflake paint on it that was stunning... Then she sidewiped a tree with it... The autobody guy who fixed it said that getting the right amount of "sparkle" in the paint so tht everything matched up gave him nightmares... But he did a beautiful job and nobody could ever tell our car had been to the booth...

Personally, I like the matte finishes, but agree it's a PITA to keep clean.

But having seen it at the dealer, I think BRP messed up the green. It should have been proper British Racing Green with the matte black, not that radioactive slurpee-looking color.

My next bike, I'm totally getting it custom painted BRG with white racing stripes. Because everybody knows, racing stripes make you go faster, vroom vroom! :doorag:
