• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi All

I'm seriously considering flying to Springfield Missouri from OZ for the Spyderfest. I have my entry tickets. By all accounts it seems a big event and looks like it will be a hoot. But you guys are lucky, you have many great events...so jealous. Down here we have only one major Spyder event a year.

What I'm asking, is the SpyderFest your premier event for the year. With the cost involved to travel, as you could imagine I'd like to attend the event that is regarded as the biggest and best Spyder gathering in the US.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Cheers

In my opinion, yes. There are other events and each one has its own flavor and niche. But bang for the buck and variety of things to do, I don't think anyone touches Spyderfest.

Agree with Ron. And if they gave an award for furtherest traveled you would probably get it. Hope to see you there.

Choices choises..!!

have never been to any but a smaller one "Spyders in the Redwoods" here in California. I am curious as you are "Spyderfest" or the "Owners Event" . There are many others for spyders and mixed. Will watch the opinions here. which ever you choose you will enjoy it...!!

WELCOME to SPYDERLAND

HI Mike, you have enough time to plan it, PLEASE COME, you wont regret it , MISSOURI is a GREAT STATE, the people are the BEST.

In the few hours my post has been on the site, I have had offers of accommodation and bikes to ride. That is very kind of you all, it's much appreciated. I did however neglect to ask in my previous post, is the host hotel the preferred accommodation for the event or are folks staying elsewhere. I'm flying blind a little here, again your advice is valued. It would be great to have a few POC's if I make the decision to take the plunge and travel to the Missouri.

Mmmm...driving on the other side of the road, that'll be a challenge for me. :roflblack:

Cheers

PS. I updated my profile so you can see a bit more about me. Thanks again

Mike, theres lots of motels in the area. AFAIK, the host motel has long been filled up. Prices range from $40 at Motel 6 (where I have resv) up to and over $100 per night.

This will be my first time there also. Hope to meet you.:)

Spyderfest is the event with the most vendors. I think it also has more people that show up for the event. The owners event in Durango this year does not have after market vendors.

If you get here I can show you some great BBQ and where to get some Legal Moonshine if you want.

Yes!!

Yes, please come  - all of your Spyder brothers and sisters will be happy to make sure you feel welcome and have a great time.:yes::yes: The venue is indoors this year so we won't have to deal with the rain or cold. You will get lots of ideas on great aftermarket things for your Spyder. :spyder2: There will be plenty of organized fun :ohyea: and lots of spur of the moment craziness. :gaah::gaah: And of course lots of GREAT food! If you can plan for an extended stay, say a couple of weeks, I'm sure that all of us here on the forum can make arrangements for you to be housed and entertained :popcorn: all over this great country of ours! If given a chance, we are liable to just pass you around for a stay. :D:D:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

It looks and sounds like all have answered your questions PLUS. If there were a choice of only one event to attend--this is the one.

Mate...could you recommend a good alternative to the host hotel.

Cheers

Mike, hopefully some others with personal knowledge will chime in as I've never been there. I pulled up Motels in Springfield Mo and after calling a couple in $70-80 range and they were full up, one forum member mentioned he had resv at Motel 6. These motels are all over the country and about the cheapest of cheap, but since I'm traveling alone and not fussy I chose cheap at $40 a night. Not even a coffee maker in room which is close to being a deal breaker for me. :)

FWIW....Motel 6 phone nr is: 1-417 831 2100

I'm staying at the Microtel that is a couple blocks North of the host hotel. I understand there are others that are also staying there. My room is about $43 a night plus taxes.
Hope you make it here and thanks for posting your website!
